It looks like you're missing a shot tube and possibly an abutment assembly, if you add those back in it'll likely shoot as the Shot tube is it's 'true' barrel as such, it looks like a spring block off a 105B will also fit that hole if you ever want a proper item in there. Finish wise they were originally Painted but you could try cold bluing which will give it a more realistic finish, if you're staying with it as a Wall hanger you could also add the end cap sight from any of the Red Ryder family, they are all plastic but it'll fit with a notch cut in the barrel (original was likely a welded item on the Barrel with the Bottle Cap style end cap that would unscrew to remove the shot tube assembly).

You wouldn’t believe it, but a few years ago we restored her to near factory finish for a vintage rally. However, she is a working piece of machinery so we still put her to use. We store and use her indoors which explains the blanket of bird poo.

I do not get why people do not have slate roofs in Canada anymore. We have such huge forest fires so slate just makes sense. Those tar shingles are hopeless and the thin aluminum just melts in the heat of the fire so slate just be the standard at least for forest fire area's
@BHTheMill3 ай бұрын
Here in Northern Ireland, organic slate is seldom still used. As far as I know, all of the mines are shut here in NI and so organic slate is imported from mainland Europe. The slate I used was recycled from an old church roof that was redone. All in all expensive, but durable and simple enough for a knowagable chap to repair.

@@BHTheMill I'm not a woodworker, just an Australian who grew up on the stories on old wood choppers blutening their axes while trying to cut these trees down. Losing the myths, it is a very hard Australian wood. Thanks for getting back to me.

Welcome to 2024. Just a thought on fixing the worktop, pull the screws back out, find a drill bit the same diameter as the heads redrill the holes just deep enough to bury the heads. IE Countersink the screws. And glue and screw some cleats across under the tool well to hold the weight of said tools. As noted the chipboard is rubbish in strength. Nice bench all said and done. Take care & stay safe M8.
