I just came across this video. Nicely done! I would boat with you guys anytime. Your appreciatian of the river , the history, the respect for your own safety and still cook awesome meals, it's noticaeable. Hit me up anytime you want to go again or try for a mfs caneclation. I am local and boat both main and middle most years. Cheers, and thank you for sharing, it made my night! ps, pretty sure I was on the main at the same time as you. I finished a middle and just turned the corner solo. I ran into friends, stream tech!, and passed them quickly. I heard they wrapped at elkhorn. Was the boat owner named Ben? DId they have a older dog with them? Just curious. He is a friend of mine.

Have your cabinets fallen down yet? My mom just bought a new 16’ Deluxe, and apparently they changed the way they installed the wood cabinets, using epoxy glue (like really?!) as opposed to fiberglass. But the change may have happened after your Scamp was built. She had to drive all the way back to MN and have them fix them! And, she’s not the only Scamp owner this has happened to. 2024 Deluxe Scamp owners beware!

Great video man we ran it in 2021 too- it was super smokey then rained like hell on the 2nd to last day with a bluebird last day. I just got off the Owyhee last weekend. My buddy has a RMR phatcat and he put a frame on it and took it on a Middle Fork trip with us last year. Main Salmon is one of my favorites Im getting a hankering to get out there late summer.

I was born in Salmon. I sure miss being there. In 1956 the year I was born my dad built his first jet boat. I spent my childhood going up and down the Salmon in my dad’s jet boats. They had big V-8 engines with no mufflers. They were loud, fast, and fun! He got 2 U.S. Patents on his pump designs and I have lots of fond memories. I still have his last 24 foot long jet boat. When I retire I plan on getting it running again. Rafting the river is fun, but I prefer a jet boat that has a few hundred horsepower!🤗

Went rafting on that river a little over 20 years ago. We had to be evacuated because a forrest fire started while we were rafting it. It started with a little smoke in the sky on the left side of the river headed downstream. About 2 or 3 hours after we noticed the smoke, the entire sky had vanished behind smoke. You could see the orange glow of the fire reflecting off the smoke just over the hill sides. When we finally got to a place where could pull off, the fire was sucking air out of the river canyon/valley and pushing us back up river. It was insane. Hell of and experience but insane. The fire end up making it all the way to the east fork river near our place in Sula. Fortunately, the fire gave out about 3 or 4 miles from our place.

I've lived in the area for more than 20 years. No longer hike the areas I used to. It's grand and rugged scenery and terrain. However, the majority of the stories are simply silly fables passed down from prospectors, bar flies, and local lore to attract tourists.

Had a run in with a ghost while hiking the loop around Weavers. My old roommate and I were on the far end and ran into a gentleman wearing jeans, ancient hiking boots and nothing else. All he said was, “water.” He didn’t look ok. So, we got him to follow my buddy with me hiking behind. Following the trail, we turned at a boulder and my friend loudly asked, “where’d that guy go??!!!?” We looked everywhere for the next hour or two, he was nowhere to be found.

Thats sad... our location starts out at over 19 an hour... and overtime is plentiful. Bad side is being a piler operator, i do not get paid more than anyone else, even though its the most mentally taxing part of the whole operation.

Who says everyone has a camper? If I did this, I would have to get a hotel for 1-2 weeks. Each week, I would be spending $1,000 on a hotel. Do you think it’s worth my time to make a profit?

Hiked this a long time ago. Friend found a cave and went in by himself while the rest of us napped. He never came out. We went in to find him but our flashlight batteries died and we never did find him. Now a missing person case.
