It's a shame to have to take out some of those old trees but sometimes it just has to be done.

Lots of good firewood out of those trees! And good mulch as well. I've still got a pile of wood chips from some tree trimming we had done last year, and the tree service knows they can always dump more here when they are working in the area.

I hate to see Cottonwoods come down, but more times than not they were allowed to grow to close to structures. If your saving the cuts, remember it's on the low end of the hardwood BTU spectrum.
@CamppattonFamilyCompound17 сағат бұрын
I love the shade they give, but not the widow makers they are constantly dropping. We will be replanting with evergreens. They will help lower the soil PH towards neutral. I am saving everything. Chips for the garden and compost piles, 10 foot straight pieces that are 18 to 24 inches diameter for the neighbors sawmill, and the rest for firewood.

@CamppattonFamilyCompound you're keeping the mulch right? I always ask when I see a neighbor getting a tree cut down, if I can have them dump the wood chips at my property. Never had them say no as it saves them time and gas. Makes good mulch around trees and on paths in my garden. Plus it's FREE!

Why did you cut them?
@CamppattonFamilyCompoundКүн бұрын
Limbs breaking off in the wind storms, falling on things and leaving 'widow makers' up in the trees and one nearly killed a grandson when it finally fell. They are old and a couple og them have rot in them and we don't want them falling on the shop. We will replant with evergreens. Also owls and hawks have been nesting in them and hunting my daughter's chickens.

Why are you destroying big old growth trees for? You don't like nature?
@CamppattonFamilyCompound2 күн бұрын
I love nature, but these keep dropping big limbs in the wing storms and it is a big danger to everyone especially my grandsons. most of the cottonwood trees are rotting from the inside out. We will be replacing them with new trees.
@SheriffWaltRogers2 күн бұрын
He's not destroying it, he is harvesting it. If you had watched any of his videos you would have known that those old trees are dropping big limbs and that is very dangerous to life and property.
