Imagine being born there and knowing those hills all your life. That was the girl I married for life, 60+ years together deep in the Smokies on the NC side. We always thought we lived in a golden age in a perfect place. The Lord had given us a magnificent gift.

The Members of the House and Senate should have to listen to these stories at least once a week just see how far they have taken us from the freedom these men and women gave us now all these politicians men and women are turning America into what they were fighting against. Damn shame.

Truly these are superheroes who accomplished this insurmountable task. They saved the free world and gave us this country we have today. There has never been a generation of men who gave so much and changed the course of history like they did. Never ever forget them. And never forget there is still evil in the world willing and wishing to take what we have God bless this nation

The real heroes of World War II is black soldiers that had to go to war and by the way America put black soldiers first to get killed they tried to kill off black people by doing that that is disgusting so fuck every World War II veteran except black veterans

600 men drowned.. And I currently live in a country where I get labeled a racist for having pride for my country. Where I can't speak about religion at work without being punished, a country where our kids can't say "under god" during the pledge of allegiance. Our government still tries to tell us we live in a free country. Riiiiiiiight👌

All these soft, weak, "socially awkward", anxiety ridden boys and young men of today should be forced to listen to every word of every WW2 veteran ever recorded. Maybe even a stint in boot camp, too! And since we are in an era of "equality" and all this feminism hollering going on, every one of these scandalously clad, smart mouthed, promiscuous, and immoral young girls spending their days twerking and making tic-toc videos lip syncing to disgusting songs ought to have to listen to what the wives, mothers, and girl friends lived thru during this time. Maybe a stint thru boot camp for them, too, for good measure! I can't believe what all these brave men- true MEN- endured and did for our country and for the lives of every US citizen then and now only for these goofs of today to turn out the way they are. No way could the fools of my generation do what these men and women did. God help us if another situation unfolds requiring people to do what they did, this nation would be doomed.

One of the last great things my grandfather got to do before he passed away was an honor flight to DC. As a combat veteran I had the honor of saluting and greeting these heroes as they got off the plane. Shaking their hands and THEM telling ME thank you for your service was truly an honor I did not feel worthy of. Just thinking about it makes me choke up.

One of these old heroes, said that there are 300,000 old WW2 vet's left, out of 7 million. Al my father in law, is one, he was Navy 16 yr. old (lied about his age) in 1945, heading for Japan. Women and children, in Japan, were being taught to fight till dead, with bamboo spears. They dropped the Atom bomb, Al's war was over, on the way to Japan.

It's very sad watching these men struggle to remember the events of their youth so long ago. Many of their stories seem to come from a shared identity. I'm not a hero, the heroes are in the cemetery, he got out of the plane and kissed the ground , etcetera. Stalin asked Roosevelt at Tehran to open a second European front to take pressure off his troops and was ignored. Many Americans thought we were fighting the wrong enemy and should have been fighting the Russians. Instead of assisting Russia in battling the Germans in Europe we went on tour. North Africa, Sicily, Italy, then finally invading "Fortress Europe" with less than a year of fighting remaining. Russia defeated Hitler with our assistance, but you wouldn't know it reading American history. Seeing Nazis marching in America and not being condemned by Trump is a betrayal of all these men who fought and suffered and all the men who died temporarily defeating fascism.

Amazing courageous men but it was Russian and other troops that made the biggest contribution to the victory in the Second World War. Look at who lost the most lives it was not Americans
