Hi Kayla, is there any way to keep the internal links dat we have on the original PDF without it looking like horrible orange? Thx :)
@beckysgraphicdesign2 күн бұрын
Meaning, the orange underline it gives to the links? No, that's the only way it displays on KP3, although I am not sure how all devices see those highlighted links. Could be different.

Hi all. I think it's so complicated, it doesn't work on a Mac and it's not free. I have an old absolutely free Trista DPI.jsx script. It still works great and fast. I've put this in the Google drive. Not sure if the link will be published. So just Google it. Please like if this was helpful.Thanks drive.google.com/file/d/1eIwW6YG0xLj87RetqcOnVWNrl0M5dw4x/view?usp=sharing
@beckysgraphicdesign4 күн бұрын
Trista DPI is also a very good one which I use frequently! The only thing it doesn't have on ID-Tasker is the ability to handle multiple instances of the same image AND it doesn't always create NEW versions of an image, instead modifying existing ones.

Unfortunately, there never will be, according to the developer, but if you work in a team and can connect a PC with Creative Cloud to your local network-you could use ID-Tasker in the WatchedFolders mode.

Actually I am really confused about the ebook creation.. I have seen people have to use html and CSS for creating ebook.. But here are someone also using InDesign for creating ebook.. So what's the difference between.. And this exported EPUB files from InDesign work for Kdp publishing.. Please let someone clear my confusion regarding this..
@beckysgraphicdesign16 күн бұрын
You can certainly code an eBook from scratch, using any variable of tools, or by simply typing out the correct lines of code and assembling the files properly. By using InDesign, it gives us a pretty decent base to start with, generating the proper files, TOC, and CSS. Sure, it's not perfect, but far easier than hand-coding something!

Yes, you can upload a reflowable InDesign eBook to KDP, as well as use Kindle Create (a PDF converter) to make eBooks on Amazon.

So whoever clients comes most of the time they also ask for ebook version.. so there i got stuck.. So I was just started to learn creating ebooks using Adobe InDesign.. Btw, I have one more things in my mind... I mostly work on complex layout and Book design.. So Can I also used the fixed layout for Kindle publishing after exporting, checking in kindle previewer one by one page and fix the upcoming issues..

What happens when you export in spreads? do they overlap ?
@beckysgraphicdesignАй бұрын
Meaning, before, or after you run this script?
@user-fk3rq1fz3rАй бұрын
I have set the bleeding for every page. When I export it in pages it's all fine and good, but whenever I want to export in spreads bleeding overlaps, whenever I want switch between pages and spreads export everytime I have to change the inside bleeding setting while exporting.
@beckysgraphicdesignАй бұрын
Yes, so if you're trying to achieve an inside bleed created in spreads, this script and video is for you! To view your exported file in spreads, change the view in Acrobat to 2-page view with cover page showing.

This is so good and so helpful! Thank you! One question (so far)... when I go in to find and replace the italics style there is no character style to choose from. Do I need to create one first? No clue how to do that! Ha.
@beckysgraphicdesignАй бұрын
Yes! You make your own Character Styles to select from. You can name them whatever you like. If you wanted, you could assign a format of "italic" but name it "Sparkle Kitty"!

You are wonderful! I have been battling so with text frames thinking I had the measure of them meantime! The one thing I have noticed is in all books the bottom line of text is even - mine are not. I have followed you rules like gospel, and it makes everything lovely but at the bottom of the frame, sometimes I see the bottom line seems to be different not aligned on the pages, is there a way to do that so that everything is even?? Many thanks.
@beckysgraphicdesignАй бұрын
You're talking about your running header or your footer, and as you flip through the pages quickly, there is a slight discrepancy in the visual location of the text? Yes, this common to notice, but will not be seen in the print version. Those items are mathematically on the same line, but InDesign shows them slightly differently, whether on purpose or not, I'm not sure.
Hi! I have recently uploaded my ebook to KDP - I used Kindle Create/Comic to create it - It is a series of single page and double page spreads. It looked perfect in the Kindle Previewer! I uploaded the KC file to KDP and it is now live, however it has gone through as all single pages :(. I had an online chat to one of the KDP customer service people and they told me that KDP doesn't support double page spreads. I said that there are other ebooks available to purchase on Amazon that have double page spreads and she said they won't be KDP books... I'm very confused! Does anyone know what I have done wrong?
@beckysgraphicdesignАй бұрын
There are two versions of fixed-format Kindle eBooks-Print Replica (which is basically a flattened PDF), and Comic (which is comprised of JPGs). If you use the comic function (your book doesn't HAVE to be a comic book to use it), then two-page spreads will be available. Note: if your book has a lot of text, Amazon will reject a text-heavy "comic book." You must use "print replica" in that instance.

For a reflowable eBook, size doesn't matter, as the text will take on the size of the readers' device.

at 4:45... isn't it better, clean, safe and sure to use the "search" window "find/replace font" in the menu "Type/find/replace font" to find out all original fonts to replace of a document? Thanks
@beckysgraphicdesignАй бұрын
You could do this, yes, but my goal is to apply a Character Style, so that no matter what font I change the text to, it will always be the "Bold" or "Italic" or "Medium" version of that font.
