Wow, 8.4 million for a piece of land. Why not buy some other property? Crazy.

I had to look up this home after seeing it in the old 1963 horror film, "House of the Damned" (no blood or guts, just spooky people scaring other people) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gKqfg81i1b-Upmg.html They used the outside of it in the movie but the inside shots were done somewhere else unfortunately. Too bad I don't have a spare 21 million dollars laying around to buy it. Pretty cool place.

The gowns of the 1830s were very puffy and beautiful. The 1800s - 1830s were my favourite year of dresses.

I think it's ridiculous that these owners plan to tear down this house. It's beautiful, it definitely has historical significance, and obviously there are a LOT of people who feel this is a terrible thing to do. Why would you do something like that? Obviously they can afford to purchase property somewhere else to build another house. With so much opposition, why would you go to such great lengths to do it? I think these people are kind of strange. They are an example of cutting off your own nose to spite someone else. This home would be an absolute cash cow if they decided instead to go along with the city's mandate and preserve it, and then turn it into a museum and allow people to buy tickets and go to every room and take a tour of it, especially if they had an audio headset tour that described interesting information as people went from room to room. They could fill it with Marilyn Monroe's clothing and some of her things, photos of her, and share information about her, and have a gift shop that sold souvenirs and other things. Why would you want so many people to despise you, even IF you really are unable to grasp the significance of how crass this behavior is, and you just can't appreciate the legacy of Marilyn Monroe and how demolishing this beautiful house is so nasty? It's honestly stupidity to continue on with this very expensive and very public fight that is going to have a significant impact on their reputation in my opinion. I think the city should buy it and turn it into a museum. The amount of money they would make would be huge, and they could use it to improve the city of Los Angeles.

Very stylish but predictable and dare I say a little boring! She was not a striking beauty, her nose dominated her face. Obviously I didn’t know her but I always thought she was aloof and standoffish.

Technically, Caroline’s sister is responsible for the plane crash that fateful night. She delayed the take off because of her job at Morgan Stanley which required her to stay later. Sadly the rest of the story did not end well for them.

I liked mammy. I think I’m Scarlett reincarnated 😂. I was born in Atlanta, married at Ashley Oaks Manor, was a library card holder at Margaret Mitchell library, watched GWTW a dozen times, own the Scarlett & Rhett Barbie’s, hardback book, VHS 😊 can y’all imagine how HOT 🥵 it was in those dresses in August in Georgia! Remember belles, we don’t sweat, we glisten😂.

I've been interested in dresses since I was a little child. I realized that the late 1850s~ the early 1860s styles were my favorite because I loved princess wearing such cute dresses when I was a child. Now my favorite ones are 1830s~1840s styles. They are cute but also stylish designs!

In case you were interested, the fish course on a first class dinner had just one option, as most first class people back then enjoyed fish. If you didn't like fish, what you would do is have it served, but just eat the vegetables around it. You were not obliged to eat everything on your plate, and it was custom especially for first class ladies to leave a lot of their food on the plate and not eat much

First and Second Class shared the same kitchens. This just showed how much the White Star Line wanted to improve the conditions of second class passengers. Their meals were simply scaled down versions of first class. Just look at first and second class breakfast menus, very similar in content.

This building may very well be one of the buildings originally built by a past civilization… the cranes and scaffolding look very suspect in the opening scene… YT channel My Lunch Break covers many buildings that fall under this theory… Once you realize you were duped about the very earth you walk upon all bets are off… truth is paramount … Peace

Poor Marilyn - 43 homes and she only lived 36 years! That averages more than one new home per year throughout her lifetime. I hope the little Brentwood house brought her some happiness. I knew she had an enjoyable time looking for furnishings and planned - or had already started to plant - a little vegetable garden. She'd just won a battle with 20th Century Fox and was in a good place professionally and domestically at least - having asserted herself. I find it very hard to believe she just killed herself when things were otherwise improving for her. The house is charming and must have been a delight for her when she moved in. I too, believe it should be preserved. It's the only solid thing about her story that remains a monument to her life. The idea of it being demolished is heartbreaking. Monroe was the stand-out star of the 20th century and I think the owners should look elsewhere to create the property they want, and the city - and donors - should raise the money to buy them out and give them handsome compensation. People would be delighted to see the house as a small Museum to Marilyn's life, and I wouldn't be surprised if it couldn't be staffed mostly by volunteers as people are pretty devoted to her memory. It would be a money-spinner for the city and organised tours could be booked to visit with only a certain number of visitors per day - it would surely be booked for a year in advance. There has to be some way to prevent Marilyn's historic property from being destroyed. I hope it can be found.

The last four days of their lives may have been the best beyond their wildest dreams, but the dream turned into over two hours of a lnightmare beyond imagination. None of us know when our last hours will be or what our last meal will be. Be nice to one another, because there may be no opportunity to apologize.
