i think it may be better to make and add a three copper pipe ( like a fork ) at the begining of original 1mtr exhaust so it will not slown the exit of gas from the machine also more heated copper pipes ? (( Z shape bends not L shape ))

Error 3 is a dead battery ,not enough to pull 9 or 10 amps at start up.... ..Always fuse the hot wire near the battery as there totally unprotected..I'd say your battery has failed especially seeing how it was charging so fast..

If you could fit a coil to the exhaust inside and out at the top with the bottle 3/4 filled with sand it would be far better. This is because the sand has a far higher specific heat capacity. Great idea!

Just one thought at present, I would without a doubt put a cover over the screws that take the power from the wall to the power supply for safety reasons, those fixing screws look open and easily touched which as you know would give a serious jolt of 240 volts.

Hi Andy,your air intake for the burner would be better from the cooler garage air, the colder the air the more dense so it contains more oxygen to help the burn, same principle as an intercooler on an engine.
@leeyo5494
@leeyo5494 18 күн бұрын
yeah but the same air mixture for complete combustion is maintained with a turbo intercooler , it adds the extra fuel to compensate for the dense air, its just a way to get more of both, in to the cylinders,so your logic is kinda wrong, it will have no real gain for him,

This can be simplified considerably. Run the exhaust pipe completely through the bottom of the radiator from right to left. Seal the radiator after filling with water. There will be no need for a pump or tank, and will cause little to no restriction to the exhaust. The heat will heat the water and circulate happily inside the radiator on its own, as it does in the oil filled electric radiators.
@jawr1215
@jawr1215 Ай бұрын
Not better, but safer - you need to cover that 240v stuff, no bueno. 12v section is fine. I'd stick half a project box over the PSU, with a grip/grommet for the 240v cable. ATM that's dangerous as.

How about making a heat exchanger with the flexible exhaust pipe, and put a box fan behind the exhaust pipe heat exchanger. Bend the exhaust pipe in a zig zag ,from top to bottom, pipe in exhaust from the top and them out the bottom ,like the radiator you had and put a box fan behind to blow the heat into the room .

My Hcalory is set in the fire place with exhaust 10ft up the old chimney. Works a treat. Wake up pick my phone up press heater on from bluetooth house is warm when I get up. hi , after doing much experimenting with my heater in the work shop , i to would very much like to install one in the fire place in my cottage , the winters here are very cold and heating very expensive . have you had any issues with the exhaust going straight up instead of down wards ? i had condensation build up in my exhaust whilst running it upwards , almost blocking it :/ made some very odd gurgling noises , when it faced upwards , did you experience this ?

@@specialse Nothing ive had this condensation question so many times.. my take on it is low volume of cold air in the chimney let's face it the exhaust isn't outside. I was told I would get condensation just after I set it up so to be sure I removed exhaust 3 times over winter just to be safe pipe was clear apart from being black there was nothing. Hope this puts you're mind at rest.

Edit: I’d definitely put a thick plastic splash cover on the wall behind, above and below the heater body, accidents can and will happen, you don’t want wall panels and wall joists having diesel contamination.

Critical thinking error here is that sand has a lower specific heat than water; about 5,2 times lower. As the exhaust doesn’t get hot enough to make sand a useful thermal storage medium, you can better make a water based system. Water can go up to 100 degrees unpressurised so to get the same energy density you’d need to heat the sand to 520 degrees. Of course this would make the system slightly more complicated as you would need a pressure release valve. Nevertheless cool build to improve on energy efficiency!

I’m curious…. What kind of heat output do you think you are getting on the low setting? I wonder how you can really heat a whole house or even a room with this? I bought one for my caravan. I found the lowest setting wasn’t really low enough…. Pretty sure it used a lot more than 100ml / Hr 🤔🤔

@EdwardEngines 2 ай бұрын
Thanks Andy, yes, I’ve seen quite a few of your videos. Not disputing the thing puts some heat into your house, but given that the output on a low setting must be what - maybe 1 kw? Less? You can’t heat a whole house or even one room with a kw… and you are bringing in outside air I think, not reheating internal air? Don’t get me wrong - I’m not meaning to question or criticise you. Just plenty of people claiming amazing things for these heaters - and it’s crap. They are really inefficient. Yes, they use less oil than your boiler, but they also make a LOT less heat, and less efficiently… As you know, if you recycle the air, and you capture some exhaust heat there are significant efficiency gains. I’m sure someone has done some proper testing to ascertain what kind of heat output they actually get for fuel used 🤔
