cant wait to see the updated video. this is spyke btw. had some optimization ideas for your sprites to help with the bottle necking and ideas i got inspired by the projects pokemon theme. (1)have you ever considered animating key frames by tracing with the hacked 3d models people got by dumping the game files? not sure how ty is animating so its just a spit balling thing so if that clashes with his creativity just can this idea. (2) another thing thats just a quality of life thing that would be great is if the games ledge options could have a color or indicator tied to what animation they are choosing off ledge to reward more reactionary play and remove the meta in ultimate based heavily on option negation and allow characters who arent specced for ledge trapping to be viable at it if the player is skilled enough. kind of like it is now in ultimate (maybe better) but easier on the gamedev side because you wouldnt need to overly standardize the animation like smash does them(a lot are very samey). (3) also animating elemental damage individually is going to hurt a lot in the long run, not sure if thats just for the mock up though. (4) the color coded ledge options would also be neat to experiment with individual options like say a ground type pokemon gets to dig for ledge roll (and roll animations out of shield maybe) can avoid a trap to cover ledge options (can, gyro, arcfire, hydrant) but allows for the draw back to be that its a few frames more reactable or vulnerable to balance out. maybe a move based around earthquake could hit them at ledge hang if intangibility runs out or during the special roll animation (ground types are super effective against ground types but it will still be viable in non ground type matchups) but make the trade off that earthquake has to be a hard callout because of slow startup and endlag and also wont hit an opponent who jumps but hit 1.5X damage and knock back on buried state or this unique intangibility state. if the scope for this ground type specific idea becomes out of scope for the game its easy to tweek to just being a suitable animation, but i think leaning into pokemon mechanics for inspired new smash mechanics is such a cool way to make something fresh and will 100% blow this fan project into pokemon fandom mainstream, which looks really really good on a resume/job application
