Very thoroughly designed layout. Beautiful designs and a very wide variety of power and rolling stock. I have been messing with model trains for over 50 years, and I love seeing great creativity such as this wonderful layout!!

Had a small Lionel set in the fifties. Just a figure eight with a pass-over bridge. The only accessory I had was a log loader. When I saw the one in the video the memories came flooding back. Thank you!

Yeah man it REALLY IS! (All about feeling your youth again) Lol! I've got my father's childhood Lionels and HOs and since he began heading down hill over the years and has now passed away, I've been collecting my favorite Lionels and getting ready for retirement. Born in Poughkeepsie 😊 my layout design will be based upon the NYC Poughkeepsie/ Hudson River Route. Great video and good to hear someone else likes Poughkeepsie NY LMAO! God Bless.

A great start to the never-ending list of tools that will be acquired over the years. A couple of inexpensive "nice-to-haves" and one must have: a magnetic dish or tray to hold the small nuts, bolt, pins, springs and such that enevitably get brushed off the bench. Even if the dish gets knocked off, there's a good chance the dish's magnet will hold the parts. The other nice to have are sandwich bage in several sizes to hold parts together for later reassembly. The must have is eye protection, especially when using the Dremel or tools that can create chips. Cutting discs have been known to shatter, sending pieces everywhere. Be safe so you can enjoy this great hobby for a long, long time! Folks, what else would you add to the list?

As a person who owns a lot of Lionel Trains Inc. era products, I always wondered why the smoke was so anemic. Very helpful tip for those who enjoy running our generation’s “postwar” trains.

We had one of those tin triple-track Lionels in our basement in the 1950s. It was just an oval. I then moved on to the more "sophisticated" Tyco HO layout.

Rich that is wonderful. By the way we met a long time ago in Ohio when I was in elementary school and got to see one of the layouts in the OGR magazine. If you know the name of a man from Hopkinsville, Kentucky named Bill Farrell then you know I’m talking about. I’m his grandson and he’s pretty well and I have both the Lionel 1990 Scale Hudson and the 2011 Lionel Vision Line Scale Hudson. Heck I even got all the 700 series scale freight cars to go with 5340 except for one that I’ll have to look for. You can’t imagine how many Lionel Hudsons I have in my collection early modern era to today models. Recently I got my hands on a Lionel Wabash Hudson being my first Wabash steam locomotive on my roster of engines. Hope Lionel has plans to release a scale P-1 Wabash Hudson in the future.

Might not have the glitz of a 700E, but I'm a happy camper with my 2065 baby hudson.

Thank you for the video. My first o gauge train set was a Marx ! I dabbled in N gauge then HO gauge and on my Honeymoon I got back into O gauge with a Lionel scout 233 steamer. My layout grew to 4x8. Then the Nephews wanted a train so I gave up on O gauge to them and now operate N gauge due to space.

Saw this collection last year - truly remarkable! The focus is mainly tinplate from the 1910s to WWll, but there's quite a bit of post war rarities as well. And it's just not Lionel and the other big American manufacturers. European builders are also well represented. Well worth the effort to see it person.
