I actually stumped the great songwriter John Phillips on this song. 10/6/1992. John had written California Dreamin', Monday-Monday, San Francisco, Kokomo (co-writer), Me and my Uncle and many more. John was about to have a liver transplant. We were sitting in his real estate agent's mini-van on the PCH in Malibu, with John, his wife Genevieve Waite (Bijou's mother), and Eric "The Doctor" Hord (their guitarist). The song came on the radio, and I asked John if he knew the name, and he said he did not. "Na na, hey hey, kiss him goodbye" by Steam. Afterwards, Genevieve made us enchiladas for lunch, we heard Bijou say "FU" to her mom (at age 12). She had been sent home after her hamster bit another kid at school, and John and Genevieve tried to explain to her that she had to take the hamster out of the house, as John had no immune system because of his liver. Afterward, Doc took me to see Lou Adler in Malibu, and then finally Dewey Martin (drummer for The Buffalo Springfield), before we headed back to San Diego. Anyway, my vivid recollection of me stumping John Phillips with this song.

You missed a really obvious song that George had trouble with, Ticket to Ride. Paul actually wound up doing the lead in the studio. If you look at live videos of the song George flubs that lead almost every time. The Blackpool concert shows Paul looking back over his shoulder after George muffs the lead. Still you can't deny the greatness of the whole band.
