I love the Miami Blue one but the 1900+ Euro price tag is ridiculously out of my league 🤡 At this point... might as well aim for a custom shop one. No point in spending that amount of money if i dont have them growing in my garden.

I have ordered the La Brea pickups for my Paranormal Custom Squier Stratocaster and I am looking to replace the neck as well. Maybe a maple Players series neck or another licensed Fender Strat neck
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic 19 минут бұрын
I will give you one warning from personal experience - the neck pockets on the Squier Paranormals are NOT even close to spec at times. I bought a Fender neck for my Cabronita thinline and it was not even close to the correct width to fit the neck without woodworking on the neck pocket. If you’re cool with that enjoy but if you are expecting a 100% drop in I would not do it.

I also have the problem with being too loud. Been living in apartments for the past 12 years and I’ve gotten used to silent solutions. I’ve actually found that playing through headphones into my Iridium isn’t as hard on my tinnitus as the amp in the room sound. I also really like how focused the sound is through headphones and that you can get stereo delays and reverbs. This seems like it’ll work well dude.

Great guitar, I own a 2001 ‘McSoapie’ and a 2010 DGT. I completely see the tele anology. The only downside is the lack of a second volume knob I think. The older versions had pickups and finish that were a bit meh, but this has been fixed since ~ 2019-2020 I think.

Just watching the video, it looks a really cool guitar with great specs. What I found weird is the sound of positions 2 and 4. It does not sound like a Strat. It could be me, but that is my impression. Not sure if others felt the same.

This will be accented even more when I post the video against an actual Fender Strat. In general, it doesn’t really sound like a Strat anywhere except the neck pickup - which resembles a really hot overwound Strat sound with dirt on it there.

with a bit of nuance and know how you can get away with playing any style on a tele, and i have 2 of them, and for the little that it has incredibly versatile, however my japanese ibanez AZ has a more comfortable body with access to everything, a contoured neck heel, 24 stainless steel frets locking tuners, and 10 tones that will get it to sound like anything very easily, which makes it my gigging guitar now, but i enjoy playing my teles at home

I share your love of Japanese craftmanship. Possibly the best in the world? I own just one MIJ guitar, that is amazing, a Scofield model Ibanez. While in Tokyo on a family vacation (what a fascinating country : the people, the culture, the food, the ethos... everything) I was able to see a number of Fender types from up close by Fender Japan VanZandt, Momose, FGN, Ibanez, Yamaha... all looking incredible but I did not have time to try any of them. I haven't had a Fender type in 20 years and wouldn't know how to chose honestly. Sound-wise is it a step up from Fender Japan to Momose or VanZandt? I also find the Ibanez and Yamaha modern strats very attractive though I'm not sure if I need all the pickup options. Thanks for your one-of-a-kind work on KZfaq.

Why does basswood dent easier than alder? Should we go with alder over basswood generally speaking?
@brandonpoole1670
@brandonpoole1670 Күн бұрын
Eh, people like to debate “tone woods” like ash vs alder vs basswood vs mahogany, or maple vs rosewood, etc. Fender purists want ash or alder bodies, but there is nothing wrong with basswood. Some say basswood is lighter or dents more easily, but I don’t really buy into all that, nor do I bang my guitars around to see which ones dent easier (spoiler: it’s Danelectro). There may be a subtle difference in tone depending on the type of wood used, its density, and age, but every guitar is as unique as the trees they’re made from. To me, quality of craftsmanship is far more important than wood type. I own several guitars, mostly Fenders/Squires, everything from made in America to Mexico, China, Indonesia, and Japan. The only basswood guitar in my collection is a MIJ Strat and that guitar has some of the best craftsmanship, right on par with my G.E. Smith Telecaster. I don’t think you can go wrong with any MIJ guitar. Anyways, that’s my long-winded take on the subject. I’m sure someone else will have a different opinion, but you can easily go down the internet rabbit hole for that. Later!

Thanks. My concern had nothing to do with tone woods.
@brandonpoole1670
@brandonpoole1670 Күн бұрын
@@rumy6871 I realize that. Guess I should have simply stated that basswood can be dented just as easily as alder. Only wanted to point out that a basswood Strat vs an alder Strat, each with identical hardware, will not deliver the same tonal frequencies. I couldn’t care less about that stuff, but some people do.

yeah, my main guitar for the last year and a half has been a player plus olympic white left-handed. I may be biased being left-handed cause there are not many options, but it is well worth the money to me. For what it's worth, the noiseless pickups are really good. the only thing that would really make this guitar a must-have would be a roasted maple neck and jumbo frets like a charvel or shecter.

I bought one, the saddle kept coming loose and pulled into the guitar by the strings. The screws must have been stripped I guess? I also had to tune it every hour which was super annoying. Returned it for a player strat. I really miss the short scale length and texture you could get doing chords with a lot of distortion. I hope to get a real one at some point, but this particular guitar is way too finicky to be my main.

Just some additional info on finishes… Polyurethane is the wood sealer. The AVRI, AO, AVII all have it. Almost all original Fenders have a “poly like” wood sealer as well. Fullerplast is exactly that. The AV65 had some _great_ colors. Fender should do a AV58 Jazzmaster in two tone sunburst and white blonde with 9 hole anodized pickguards and black pickup covers (with a white set included). 😅 Some of my notes on Finishes, which was a part of much more info and discussion posted on TGP: Fender has used synthetics as a sealer coat forever. Pre CBS….poly-like sealer. They used Homoclad, Fullerplast, Polyurethane and possibly others. A fender without it wouldn’t be vintage accurate. ”From 1955, Fender used a sealer called Homoclad and from 1963 they applied a clear polyester sealer coat called Fullerplast” “Fullerplast is a clear, sprayed chemically curing sealer, unaffected by solvents after it dries. It is made by Fuller O'Brien hence the name "Fullerplast" (and all this time you though it was named after the city of Fullerton, the home of Fender). Fullerplast soaks into the wood and creates a seal that prevents following coats from soaking into the wood like a sponge. This means spraying the color coats is easier and the coats can be applied thinner (saving material, money and dry time). Even though alder is a "closed pore" wood, the first few coats of lacquer will soak in like a sponge without some type of sealer coat. Fullerplast dries in 15 minutes, and is paintable in one hour. It is also applied very thin. Most experts agree the actual product "Fullerplast" (as made by Fuller O'Brien) actually started to be used around 1963 at Fender. Prior to that, Fender used other products as their sealer coat, but they did the same thing. The sealer allowed any color coat (be it sunburst or a custom color) to not soak into the wood. Since the sealer is essentially a clear inexpensive primer, less color would be needed (and color costs a lot more money than a cheap sealer).” And certain Fender colors, some of the most prized, were Lucite. Lucite is “poly” as well. American Original, American Vintage 62, and the Heritage Japan series are all quite historically accurate as they have poly sealers with nitro over top. Check the vintage color charts, your favorites might be Lucite (poly).

One mod I cant live with out is a 4 way switch. I have to have series and parallel. I personally like 7.25-9.5 vintage compound, but that a special thing. I like the beefy neck same thickness of my 335. I just picked up a 72 thinline maybe I should have grabbed one of these while prices are in a dip. Next time I guess.

I've had my 2012 MIM for almost 10-11 years now... after a few months of gigging I worked out what needed doing... I replaced the bridge with a Rutter's Burrito V, fitted new Fender locking tuners, replaced the plain white pickguard with a thicker black one from WD's, I fitted Schaller strap locks as well... I left electronics as they were as they didn't give me any hassles... I also opted for leaving the Fidelitrons in as they sounded just right through my AC30... I use the volume pot all the time... I actually set my rig to suit the band and room with my guitar's volume on about 30% then ride it up and down as needed for rhythm and solos... check it out on this vid of me playing it live... I already ordered the new pickguard and was waiting for it at this point... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h7Kjeal_06qnk3U.html
