That bass fits really well, but the low pass filter movement makes the volume inconsistent. It starts off too quiet, than becomes louder and abruptly drops down in volume. Maybe you could automate master volume and/or compressor mix in order to compensate for that. Making the end of LFO1 quickly fall down to zero would make the sound more seamless. Regarding the compressor: the reason it adds grit is upward compression. You can see that the high frequencies of the sound don't reach the lower threshold compression, so it brings those frequencies up. You can change the threshold (moving the column up or down) and ratio (moving grey lines on the column). You can also disable upward or downward compression of any band by double clicking its respective column.

I think also the audio composition of all the parts need to be well put together and follow a structure that sounds good and tells a story! Even if it is just for the video and should work without watching.

Its a great ability to make music by ear but maybe try to compare also by looking at a spectrum analyzer? Or just zoom in on both files in your DAW? Did you try to seperat stems of the original with ai jet? I just bought a tool for stem seperation some websites do it for free. Love seeing the progress. Also the sterofield needs some attention, just jumped between yours and the original wearing headphones... 😉

I managed to get something close to the vocal bass using a pulse wave going through a Formant : AIUO filter going through a Comb : Low High Flange- filter (-12 semitones). I used an envelope with longer attack to decrease the formant X and Y. Then hard clip, compressor and reverb.

Wrong name for your channel. Eclectic Music fits better. I really appreciate that about you and your channel. So many others are so narrowly focused. LOL!... I used to feel that folk music was for other... folks. Then I watched season 1 of the Amazon original series The English. The ending credits song of the final episode, the Crooked Still rendition of American Tune, haunts me to this day and led me to discover so much beautiful folk music and amazing folk artists. Crooked Still and Nep among my favorites. Crooked Still - American Tune (but watch the series first if you can to be hit by the full emotion - the music and vocal delivery, so perfect): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f6p9hbqjptabgmQ.html

why does this channel have so few followers? Im watching your content, Amazing, you are very talented in the sound design as well as musician! keep going i hope you will grow!!. I tried to recreate that Synth from Radiohead by ear in the past, and i think your synth is very nice, maybe trying to change the Low pass filter to 24, and move a little down the cut off, so try to expand the Width of the sound detuning a little bit the oscilators with some LFO automation and panning them a little bit, if you listen the track i think has a little movement in the pitch of the notes. You can also improving the stereo width using a little bit delay before the reverb. Whatever, that transition you made is amazing, i always hope to hear a really good Techno or House version of this song. I remember when i went to a live show of Radiohead in argentina, when they put this song also they add also a nice Kick and Bass boost on the background and all the people become to dancing like in EDM party! haha--- I'm glad I found your channel!!

Sounds like an agressive bass that is modulated and shortened by an envelope. Maybe try to change the envelope on a few different sounds to learn what it does? Probably ths has some distortion before or after the envelope.

@@WavePunkMusic Truly, the thanks is all mine, but the accolades come at a price - a challenge. 😂Speaking of "Bass is hard", I'm a HUGE fan of Guillaume David's soundtrack to the game IXION, and there's a leady-bass sound that I've had my first pleasurable yet frustrating attempt at sound design in trying to reproduce that sound exactly. ... The song is A Fool's Hope, and the rounded rubber-band lead comes in after a few seconds of intro. Your challenge, should you choose to take it on, is to record a session where you recreate that lead sound from scratch (as well as the accompanying bass if you like, which is also marvelous) in all it's glory, including macros that can give the variation heard throughout the song. ... (Come to think of it, if one were to create a preset library called IXIONIC that reproduces as many of the sounds appearing on the IXION album, I think that library would do quite well.) ... If you haven't heard the album, you're in for a treat. If you haven't, put on headphones, start from track one, turn up the volume, close your eyes and be transported. ... This is the very reason I teach my students to tune chords with each other, not every individual note to a tuner haha. Have you ever tampered the Arab tuning system? Instead of whole/semi tones, they also have micro-tones(so it’s a set of 24 notes per octave). The harmonies are very difficult to get right, but it makes for some insanely cool melodies

If someone send me something to listen to I'll play it on my phone just to see if it's worth pulling it up somewhere with bigger speakers.
