Hmm, and off she goes, just a hop skip & a jump to the top and back!! The pinnacles is a tramp rather than a walk. Unless you’re staying overnight at the hut, and she clearly is not, the return journey will take you 6-8 hours depending on your level of fitness, and you need a moderate to good level of fitness. Be prepared! You need to take water. This video was done in winter 2012, in winter you definitely need waterproof clothing as the weather changes rapidly at any time of year. The video shows the walkway in good repair, sadly it is far from that now. Good walking shoes/boots are required. Now the pinnacles tramp is a great experience with the most fantastic views that I highly recommend. Unlike the lady in this information video you just need to be better informed and far better prepared

most of this is NOT the Karangahake Gorge. just a few bits the rest is before and after.
@TheCoromandelNZ4 жыл бұрын
Kia ora Robyn, thanks for the feedback...that'll be the bit where people are encouraged to enjoy all there is between Paeroa & Waihi, otherwise most of this is the majestic Karangahake. Thanks again from #thecoromandel

I remember climbing up to The Pinnacles Hut with my kids when they were at Intermediate school. One needs to be reasonably fit, I was in my mid 40s abit overweight, so found it slightly strenuous at times, but then again I was carrying a pack with a whole heap of food. If you know where you're going you can even walk down to Coroglen on the other side. There are actually two tracks up to The Pinnacles hut, one is shorter but steeper the other one is called the the tram line track. once you get to The Pinnacles Hut it's another half an hour up to The Pinnacles.

What are the chances of coming and seeing the orcas? Are they quite common or not so much?
@TheCoromandelNZ6 жыл бұрын
Orcas are frequent visitors to the waters surrounding The Coromandel. However the chance of seeing them on a tour is very unpredictable. There are other marine tours throughout NZ that provide more reliability if you're really keen!
