Hold it, hold it, hold it! It is supposed the 1992 Theme not the 1989 Theme! That is enough! (destroys the 1989 theme and puts the 1992 Theme instead) Whew.

Thank you for keeping the memory of Captain Harlock alive. I was living in the DFW area watching this show and Harlock became an idol of mine. Great shows like this, Starblazers, Robotech and so many others made those years so long ago fun.

Greg Hurst had just joined WABC from KFMB in San Diego. He'd later join Houston's KHOU-11, and at last hearing, is now at WREG in Memphis.

Jeff Maxwell co-hosts (as of March 2024) a podcast called M*A*S*H Matters, having playing Private Igor Straminsky for much of the show's run. He has talked about Shopper's Casino, and has pretty freely admitted the show is as terrible as it looks. If I remember correctly, he said that the show was of extremely dubious legality; game shows are tightly monitored in the US and this show's basically being an infomercial dressed up as a game show might've been an attempt at some sort of legal endaround. Also, Maxwell admitted that Debbie Maffett, the blonde co-host, flat out didn't like him from pretty much the very beginning. About hte only thing Maxwell claims to have gotten out of the show was keeping one of the suits he wore.

The behind the scenes thing at the end must've been recorded around the time the original 1998 VHS was made. Wonder why it wasn't released 'til 2003.

I would have thought that this day's "Homophonic pairs" category was a one-time first-time thing considering how awkward the category went, but checking J-Archive, it's been around since 1986 and continues today.

I'm just really realizing how strange it seems now to have to watch through previews before your movie plays. Yet for me (as well as many others) it was ridiculously normal during my childhood and even teen years with DVDs. Wild. Streaming sure has changed shit up 😂

OMG, I actually got chills hearing the Channel 11 bumper. Though, to my knowledge, they might never have actually shown it in its entirety. ROBOTECH ran continuously but it seemed Captain Harlock would get so far and then stop due to angry parents or something.
