@@meekelareads Yes, re-reading books in the language you want to learn/practice is so helpful - you can pick up so much more than you would otherwise! At some point, I wanted to learn Finnish and listened to the whole first Harry Potter book. Can't speak *any* Finnish, and yet, I was still able to grasp a few words. It's just mind-boggling to me, but also really cool. It feels a bit like a superpower: I really recommend :)

Mistborn is one of his earliest works and Brandon Sanderson has mentioned that he regrets not having more female characters, he has said that he focussed primarily on Vin as female protagonist and let other female characters languish. I think he has done a better job of dealing with female characters on series that came after mistborn Era 1. Stormlight Archive, Mistborn Era 2, Warbreaker and all of his secret projects has female characters that are done well.

Yay I've finally read enough overlap to make a comment! Unmasking Autism does a great job at leading the reader to self-realisation rather than self-diagnosis e.g. my fav quote "“I absorbed the idea, common to many 'gifted' children, that a person’s intellectual potential belongs to society, not to themselves, and that they owe the world greatness to justify their oddness”. I also finished Fourth Wing this month to get to the good good dragon politics, but every single character in that book (including the dragons...) is only ever motivated by either survival or lust and it makes them feel too boring for me to want to start Iron Flame
@meekelareads
@meekelareads 29 күн бұрын
that quote from unmasking autism *chefs kiss* such a good read! and that is fair for fourth wing 😅 the survival aspect is STRONG and the smut is very prominent - iron flame does somewhat shift a bit from that more towards the conflict of the world (but im not sure if it's enough to sway you 😅)

Your fiddle leaf fig’s leaves are turning yellow and drooping most likely for 2 reasons: You are overwatering, and it’s outgrown its pot. Try repotting it in a larger, self draining pot and adding vermiculite to the soil. And don’t water it too often or too much. Think sips vs. gulps.

Hi Meekela, I'm sorry to hear that you feel a bit burned out. You have no idea how much these sections of your videos make me feel seen and heard. I love your videos for what they are and I'm so thankful that you share these feelings. Also, of course I have a banana bread recipe: 2 big bananas (or 3 smaller ones) = 250 g. 1 table spoon of lemon juice 1/2 cup of oil (125 ml) 1/2 cup of soy milk (125 ml) 3/4 cup sugar (about 150g) 1 tea spoon of vanilla extract 1 tea spoon of salt 1 tspoon of baking powder 1tspoon of baking soda 3 table spoon of grounded chia seed (or flaxseed) how many chocolate chips you want 1/3 cup of nuts or how many you want 1 tea spoon of sugar 1 tea spoon of cinnamon Pre heat oven 350°F / 180°C Mash up bananas in a mixing bowl, add lemon juice, sugar, oil and milk. Let it sit until you prepare other ingredients In another bowl, mix the flour, sal, baking powder, baking soda, the seed. Gradually add this to the banana mixture until well blended. Do not beat. Add the chocolate, put this in a loaf pan and add the nuts, and a mix of sugar and cinnamon on top. Cook for 45 minutes or until a knife's blade comes out clean. Let it cool out and enjoy! :)

I haven't read that many books from your TBR list but I'm excited about the ones on your "genuinely kind of excited" tier too! I have read some Discworld novels, I'm following publication order (so, also started with The color of magic) and I would recommend you to have the second book (The light fantastic) prepared since those two do "go together" (the rest of them I think work better reading them by themselves). Still, I don't want to be discouraging since I do really love and enjoy my time reading them a lot !
