It's great. Stone carving is a demonstration of technology, because it can only do subtraction.

Copying the master is a great idea for learning. Two things here. He took on too much at first. The clothes are a painting all by itself. The figure or face is a challenge. I would have done it smaller to begin with . It is impossible to try to recreate a work in a larger format. I am currently doing a famous master copy portrait series and getting better results and learning soooo much. But my scale is smaller and I can use brushes of comparable size to duplicate the master. Working that big was a mistake. If you are interest in seeing them go to rickrotantefineart- Famous Artists series. To see how one should try this.

Not "good enough"? There is plenty of crap hanging in modern art museums. Anything by Jackson Pollack is pure guttershite. Proof talent isn't all that is needed to have your works in a museum and "art education" shouldn't be valued as high as it is when taking opinions. Gimme a Ross any day.

I'm designing my own portrait reference in ai MIDJOURNEY / DISCORD and "in the style of artist John Singer Sargent so i have TONS of artists references i can use that has NEVER BEEN DONE so copying one would be somewhat original after you've copied his work and understand what he's done.
