Nice footage as always! I was out there mid-April. As a driver (solo) I found it was difficult to really enjoy the views as with the new truck where I wasn't confident where the corners were, I was concentrating on just driving it. I actually found it a little more sketchy right at the top with the ruts, but that was just me being new to the truck (just 1,000mi on it). I really need to get a GoPro so that I can enjoy it AFTER the fact. Looks like you had a good run at it, no traffic coming up. I had to pull over a couple times, which was a little sketchy for me, but I was looking for that and when I saw uphill vehicles I was able to pick a good spot to pull over (in the switchbacks) and just waited for several packs (herds? LOL) of Jeeps to come up. I think I was able to enjoy the road to Potash Lakes better, because there I was able to pull over whenever I wanted to take pics. Hopefully I'll see you guys out on the trail one of these days, I plan on going back maybe in the fall.

@@kx8960 thank you!! I was in the same boat as you the first time I went. I’m glad I had the GoPro going so I could capture it and see it later because I was super concentrated putting the truck in the right spot and missed some of the scenic parts. We went early in the morning so it was nice not having to deal with the traffic! We took shafer to potash to long canyon trail. Makes for a fun route!
@kx89602 күн бұрын
@@EAOffroad Yeah, I think I'll do it again, now that I know my truck better, I'm more confident in it knowing the turning radius etc. Since the Raptor is bigger I can imagine all the trails are that much narrower. Every time I wanted to sightsee I had to remind myself NOT to go where I was looking (as on a motorcycle - target fixation)! I think next time I'll stop every so often (traffic permitting) and get a pic out the window when I can. I wanted to pursue Jug Handle Trail at the end of that day, but didn't know the difficulty and was running out of daylight. That definitely is a nice route though, nice vid!

@@kx8960 2nd time around is a lot better! I went on this trail for my first time in 2020 and I was pretty nervous but that was really my first expedition ever. Doing it now was a lot better! I did chicken corners in the raptor back in 2020 too 😅 it made shafer trail look easy!

Wow, another great vid, and another great trail! As I said, being a noob I want scenic but easy/moderate trails, and these kinds of videos are PERFECT since you really can't be sure about trail "ratings", which are subjective. I'd had this one on my list, just didn't have time to do it a couple months ago when I was there, but after seeing it, I'm DEFINITELY going to do it this time, and I'll try it "backwards". I think, for me at least, this trail would be a lot less sketchy than I found Hideout Canyon to be. That was a lot narrower, and that one long shelf climb was pretty butt-clenchy for me at least. Keep up the good work, glad I subscribed last time!

Nice! I'll have to try this next time I'm in Moab. I saw your vid about Hideout Canyon, and did that last month when I was there in my '24 Colorado ZR2. I'm new to wheeling (though I "softroaded" in my RAV4 for years), so, I did that going up from Onion Creek to the top and on a couple sections, especially that long climb, it was a little butt-clenchy to me, but the ZR2 made it like it was nothing. This looks fun and a good one to "practice" on until I get competent, so, thanks!
@EAOffroadАй бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the videos!! Hideout was so cool because it feels like you keep on Getting higher and higher! Bull canyon was a lot of fun but the real neat trail is surprise overlook which connects to this trail. At the end of surprise overlook trail you go up to a sand dune to the edge of the overlook! That video comes out soon!

@@EAOffroad Cool, I'll make sure to catch it! Being so new to all this, in a vehicle I'm not 100% comfortable with yet (I feel more comfortable in my RAV4 because it's so much smaller even though it's capabilities are a lot less), I just want to grow into it slowly so I don't FUBAR my new truck. I always go solo (but carry an InReach), so, there's another incentive not to do anything stoopid!

We’re in F-150 Raptors which are wider than other most vehicles traveling on it so it’s a different perspective for us. It’s not as narrow as other trails I’ve been on, but I think the steep drops on the side play a part in the pucker factor.
