What did you charge for this cake, and where are you located?
@CaketasticCakes
@CaketasticCakes 14 күн бұрын
I am in NEPA and in a more rural area so my prices are usually less than the median. This was 8” cake, made several years ago, and with the decor I charged (I think) 75. Nowadays I would charge double

@@CaketasticCakes Thank you, a customer just requested something very similar. I quoted $220 and was a bit nervous but they paid in full right after the invoice was sent. I am located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Groceries are crazy here, so cakes must be priced high to make any profit. Appreciate your reply.

Actually, I love that you showed the correct ratio (1 oz of beans to 8 oz of alcohol). This is in line with FDA requirements. Unfortunately it is not fully extracted in 6 weeks. If you shake daily for 6 months it should be ready (fully extracted). The difference between grade A and grade B beans is the amount of moisture content (plumper is prettier, drier gives you more beans per ounce so a little stronger flavor with grade B beans.

I just googled pikachu face template and printed one I liked, no special format or anything. And the straws are 8” lollipop sticks You can get them through my affiliate link and it helps me out too :). If you want of course. Hi. What size were your cakes, and how many tiles did you need, please.
@CaketasticCakes
@CaketasticCakes 26 күн бұрын
The cake pans were 6” and 8” and I sorry, I have no idea how many tiles I used. The square cutter I used was about half inch in size though. It was a lot. You figure, there’s about 50 on the top of the top layer alone. Sorry I can’t be more exact.

I made this and it was super cute, but the head, because it was so heavy, compressed the "cupcake" portion of the body. Any suggestions on how to avoid that?
@CaketasticCakes
@CaketasticCakes 26 күн бұрын
Yes. You must allow the body to dry completely before you put the head on. Make them separately but make a pilot joke in the head for the lollipop stick to go into. Then let them dry a couple days. Then place the head on. That’s the problem with these preschool characters- they have huge melons! I hope this helps in the future 😁

Stick it in the fridge for 15- 20 min, take it out and stir. Repeat this as often as you need to get the thickness you need. Don’t give up- I’ve had this happen too and it’s a pain in the butt, but it can still work. I’m sorry it happened!

I do. I do this out of my kitchen for other people who aren’t professionals and just want to make something nice for their loved ones. I try to use as basic and readily available tools and supplies as possible. And I must say, I’ve never had a problem. However maybe someone else here will benefit from your comment or want to up their game, so thank you for the comment 😁

Wth. I thought gum paste was some type of frosting. I'm almost furious at myself not knowing all these years making special cakes for my kids that there was another product for decorating. All of the frustration could've been avoided. How did I not hear about this product in all of the videos I've watched😮
