They do a number on the deer. Ppl say they only get the fawns but I’ve witnessed them working full sized deer and succeeding.

Death Cap mushrooms start out as small round ones and Earthball’s are similar but coloured quite a bit differently. When western giant puffballs are large and white, they are hard to mistake with much else, but a ton of info on all can be found online! I’m always over cautious when it comes to foraging mushrooms lol

The morels I’ve tried have all been delicious! This puffball was good and a nice compliment to a spaghetti sauce. The nice thing about the puffballs is you get so much out of just one! 🙌🏻

All mushrooms are edible. Some are only edible once.

Yes, as @NitroKitKat said, as long as they are marshmallow white all the way through. They will start to yellow, then green, then brown mush and are not edible once that begins.

The inside dries out and eventually all that is left is powdery spores. It is pretty satisfying to smash em haha I’ve found em as big as watermelons!

Great question! This all started with wanting to find just one when I was a teenager. Eventually I did find one, then started a pile…the pile grew until it started to become an “issue” 😂 So I gave some away and then started only keeping the ones I really liked, for whatever reason that may be. Now i have a “keeper” pile, use some to craft some items to sell, and have a friend who uses them to make knives. My problem is I “like” most of them hahaha
