His voice is literally identical to the studio recordings. I challenge anyone to find any artist who even comes close to this kind of talent

Elliot Smith was ( and is and will be ) one of the most remarkable singer and guitar players ever. His playing is absolutelly flawless and virtuosistic as is his singing. An amazing artisan capable of crafting superlative jewels as "Angeles" a baffling amazing composition, capable of restoring your faith in the power of music. God bless you Elliot Smith.Peace

Top player and writer/lyrcist. He used his voice well to suit his songs and super emotional resonant but maybe not such a wide range in terms of expressiveness. Still great though.

That intro is really difficult to play for any guitar player. I don't care how elite your are, he never looks at his hands the whole time once in the song. Still in my top 3 genius songwriters of all time. Chord sequences were fucking insane.

@@geniuscat6436 Elliot Smith was a genius, insane chord progressions. He never knew what he had. The intro to Angeles is insane to play he never looks down. Check out his non album songs stuff like Dancing on the Highway, Talking to Mary. Peace.
