Not quite. Also, there weren't 6 champions in each weight division and there were also less weight divisions. No disrespect towards Floyd, I think he's one of the greatest, but he did have a lot more champions to choose from.

Like Floyd. Watched most of his fights growing up. These guys were different. Theyre fighting all time greats, a lot of times, well over 12 rounds. I don't see Floyd hanging with Duran, Leonard, etc.

Tommy is so great. I don’t think it matter who trained him. His fighting spirit would have gotten him where he was manual Stewart had no concept of defense.

Wow 5 weight divisions. First championship to last belt held, what percentage of weight from one to the next? He was fun to watch too. A cool cat. I still occasionally watch his amateur bout against Pryor. He was always scrappy. 🥊

What everyone forgets about Tommy, is he was such a masterful boxer, had he been more conservative in his approach to fights, and not always gone looking for the kayo, he would have been almost unbeatable. He was still able to outpoint a fantastic, slick champion, in Virgill Hill, years past his prime...

@Dempsey1873 I have read everything about him, I've had knee high stacks of literature about him. He was faithful to his beloved wife and although he loved company and people, he often went out after fights but rarely drank alcohol. Often he'd have one drink then have sioft drinks after. As I said, great video and very entertaining. The myth that he was a party animal has almost become established fact. He fought virtually every week, no way he could be so successful if he drank like that. Mickey Walker, however is a different story. 🤜🏽🫨🤛

Yes. When Iran beat Tommy for the Middleweight title, his friend Davey had just been killed in a freak accident. Davey's death motivated Iran to another level.

The old school trainers understood that less is more. Guys like Louis, Charles, and Robinson would spar daily, but didn't usually go more than 6 rounds per session

@@nunyafuckinbizniz the same Leonard who admitted Hearns beat him and got a stoppage that many feel was premature the only reason Leonard isn't punch drunk is because he almost went blind and had to retire 3 times as he wasn't as active as the rest of the horseman because of his injury

@@nunyafuckinbizniz don't be sad that Leonards career was cut short and didn't your guy hud go survival mode against Hagler in a fight people feel he lost in and got destroyed by Duran, then lost to Camacho twice and then lost to Hearns in a rematch so ig that makes Leonard worse than Barkley😂

honestly, sparring too much can cause a lot of long term damage to the brain. This is why you'll see the Hearns has been showing signs of brain damage while leonard looks fresh

Obviously that training regimen worked for Tommy in his career, but it makes you wonder if all that sparring caused unnecessary head trauma. If you watch the Mike Tyson podcast episode with both Ray and Tommy, it's clear to see who suffering more from CTE between the 2 fighters.

Don't let this video fool you he hit the bag, jumped roped, hit the pads, etc. I was there to witness it my self at Kronk. The all out hard sparring day in and day out is what most likely causes the unnecessary trauma to many fighters.
