Was able to visit Laura’s home in the early 80s when I was married to my ex husband who lived in Ava Mo. Mansfields Mo. Ava was only around 15 miles from her home. It was so nice to see where they lived. I loved the book and years later all The Little House in the prairie. If you get a Chance to see where Laura Ingles and her family lived take it.If you get a chance to see where Laura Ingalls and the family grew up in go see it. You will not regret it.

I wish I could speak with them and ask their opinions of how they felt as fashion changed through the years. Did they feel it was gradual enough to be accepted? Did the older generation just get rid of the girdles and stay with long dresses and hats and frown when their children started wearing a slightly lower neckline, shorter sleeves and shorter dresses etc...

I'm curious about her ancestral background. I assume the family was German, but I may be wrong. I have a friend, 50 years plus now, who is the spitting image of Laura when she was younger. Funny thing is, my friend's name is also Laura.

I wonder if the photograph of the family at 1:07 was taken not long before Laura, Almanzo, and Rose set out for Mansfield, Missouri?

My 5th grade teacher was very much into pioneer ways. She taught the class how to spin wool and dye yarn, as well as crocheting. she used to do water color painting as well. she taught us Christmas carols in German for the Christmas pageant. The class crocheted pillows for Christmas presents ( I still have mine). On Friday afternoons she would read the "Little House" books while we worked on our pillows. I credit Laura Ingalls Wilder and my 5th grade teacher with starting my life long love of history and learning. Thank you Mrs. Wilder and Ms. Hunrath!

That was the year that my Granddaddy was born, and he passed when I was 17 years old, he was 77 years old. How I miss the most important person, in my life. I'll never forget those walks he would take my brother and me through the whole forest or woods as we call them. Peace and Love. Sandra

Excellent collection of the photos. I read the book series and watched the tv series about 20 times. I even liked the last seasons and wished they kept making new episodes. There was many missed opportunities, spin-offs and sequels. Nellie and Willy both got married. Their lives would be interesting. Laura and Almonzo could travel the world. Mr Isaiah Edwards and John Garvy could unite to be sheriffs and private investigators in the wild west. Olsons and Willy could move to NY to be close with Nellie, open a new mercantile and pawn shop with new interesting characters. I know I’m just babbling some fictional ideas and some actors don’t want to work with others over money and just wanted to do something different. Johnathon Gilbert (Willy) moved to NYC to be a stock broker and doesn’t want anything to do with Hollywood and his family. Little House series had and still has a great influence on my life and the lives of many fans. I’m still hopeful that another team will make new episodes

Im currently listening to the whole series of books on audiobooks. Had to giggle at Laura's fringe. In the book Pa called them Lunatic fringes. They had just come into fashion, and Laura begged Ma to let her cut her hair 😊. I think in America they now use the term Bangs.
@kellyshomemadekitchen10 ай бұрын
Yes, they’re called bangs in America. Not sure how that started.

Wow this is a amazing history video of Laura Ingalls Wilder. I grew up reading her little house books and the tv series little house on the prairie and Ive been rewatching the show and I’m finally at the last season of it and totally I started rewatching the books and today I read half of her first book little house in the big woods. I have mild Cabral palsy and I couldn’t read but with the help of a tutor I can read I went from book with just pictures and words and then Joanie b Jones and then the little house on the prairie books to young adult books like twilight and hunger games. The show made miss my books so I got them yesterday ❤😊

Die Serie zeigt genau das Gegenteil von dem was es wirklich war, ein Schuften ohne Ende um zu Überleben. Harte Gesichter die Geschichten Erzählen und nicht die Weichspüler Version Londons im TV 😢
