17:21 I might be wrong here but it still sounds a little off. Some would say that just sounds like a lumpy cam but I dunno man. Is it still cranking over kind of funny? If it's not the firing order or valve train (loose rocker etc) might want to consider doing a compression test or even leak down test.
@FHHGarage3 ай бұрын
I definitely agree it might need some more adjustment. As of now u give the throttle 3 pumps and it fires right up after half a crank.

All the bolts going into the cylinder head should be at the same angle as those in the front, 90° to the surface of the head. Something is way wrong with those center bolts! You should not hafta modify the intake. It's a SBC
@FHHGarage5 ай бұрын
I think my problem is I’m putting an older style intake on an 87-95 engine. At least that’s what my research was leading me down. Some people say there camaro or corvette heads. Some say it’s a Mexico block. A bunch of gibberish. And I’ll have to take a look again at the fuel pump. It feels like the entire inside is blocked off for some reason. A lot of goofy stuff. But thanks for the tips and watching! 👍🏻

Swapping to a 78-81 front end isn't just a nose swap? Fenders are different too
@FHHGarage6 ай бұрын
I did a terrible job explaining. My car is a 78 that they swapped a 76 front end on. I believe I still have 78 fenders on it that they bondoed panels into to remove the gap between the fender and bumper. I do have an entire true 78-81 front clip but it doesn’t color match. I want to see if I can retrofit the 78 rad support. With the 76 front end just to keep the car one color
@lonnymay39976 ай бұрын
@@FHHGarage no those are definitely 70-77 fenders. Different side marker light is the easy giveaway but the older fenders are also longer. They extend past the hood into the headlight buckets. The 78-81 fender stops at the end of the hood because the newer nose is one piece and bolts right to the end of the fender.
@FHHGarage6 ай бұрын
That’s good information I didn’t know. I appreciate that. I see what you mean looking on Google images. I have the z28 (possibly. Not 100%) Fender vents on mine. Did they put fender vents on the 70-77? I thought that was only 78-81.
@lonnymay39976 ай бұрын
@@FHHGarage Correct? Fender vents were 78-81 only so those were added to your 70-77 fenders. Your particular vents are 80-81, 78-79 were different.

Why didn’t you use the hoist to remove the tension from the bolts holding the engine to the stand? It appears as though you hooked the chain up to the engine but never lifted it to remove the weight from the bolts. You also had the weight balance too far back in the chain. You should have attempted to level the engine when lifting it to remove the excess weight from the bolts.
@FHHGarage6 ай бұрын
I did lift it up to relieve the tension just not a lot that was noticeable. The other thing is that the pump leaks fluid so it was low and not working that great. Like a dummy I forgot to tighten the actual arms so that’s why they shifted. The bolts didn’t want to come out since they were only grade 5 and bent when the engine shifted.

I lived on Morgantown wv for 24 years. There was an old salvage yard near Fairmont wv out in the boonies. They had all old cars. I found a lot of hard to find Pontiac parts mid 60s to mid 80s. I told the owner he should inventory all the trim pieces , but he was an older gentleman , i miss wv.
