God how I miss the sound of the 240-cid in my old 1967 Ford F-100

Your F-100 is very pretty

I dropped a 300 six into a 1974 LTD. Some fella tried to swap in a 350 smallblock and failed miserably, leaving behind these huge chunks of C channel sticking out from the frame where the engine perches were supposed to be on the 350. I never cut them out, and it turns out that I can sit on the fender and rest my feet on these old 350 mounts. It also makes a convenient grounding point. Sitting under the hood really beats standing in the rain any day.

What oil do you use for oil change? And how many quarts? Thanks in advance!

Just looked through my old Ford stuff this afternoon. I had more before I moved. I feel badly about getting rid of some like I did but I figured how many 302 blocks do I really need and how many big six blocks do I really need? I kept a F600 forged crank and the 240 head. I thought I traded the 240 rods for 300 rods years ago when I built a swap in engine for an 81 Ford. I used the 240 block and the 81 300 head. But I just measured the rods and they're 240 rods. I guess I could use the 300 block with the forged crank the 240 head.. find some 292 Chevy billet rods..or not.. I'd have to machine the crank a little but it's doable. I used to know the big six stuff better than V8 stuff. Now I've forgotten most of it. I prefer the inline for ease of service but I don't want a factory carbed 6. I've got an economaster 450 mechanical secondary carb. I bet that was for a 6 with an offenhauser. I don't think I'd want it for that.. everyone makes better 6 cams, or did. If you want to spend the big bucks you can even have a roller cam made. Mobil Delvac 1300 and Delo are both SN rated. Delvac has more ZDDP. Delo has more boron. Oil isn't a problem for flat cams. Seems like Mystik has a HD oil that's good too. Just thinking. I'd still rather have a 351 but if I get rid of the overdrive...I don't like the EFI 6. The head was 68cc like the 240 head but they're known to crack. The older stuff never did.

Nice truck. I maintain & drive a '65 F100 2WD. Had the 240 for 31 yrs. Made 169,000 miles. Was very strict on the 3,000 mile oil/filter changes. Never once went past the 3,000 mile limit on oil/filter changes. The last 9,000 +/- miles...was going thru too much oil. Had it removed. Replaced it with a 300. Everything fit up from the 240 to the 300. I put the EFI exh mnflds on the 240. What a difference. Not enough to go with another 240. Now the 300 benefits in the "breathing" dept too. I am so pleased with the 20 more h.p. I still use the 1V carb & oil bath air filter. I look forward to more yrs of trouble free driving (as long as I maintain it).

Who had the best door seals for your pretty truck! It is identical to my father in laws, and mine is whit on top and blue bottom. We have several family owned since New! Love 67-72 Fords the most but have others too and cherish. They were all Awesome in the 60s n 70s. Gonna keep yours or Sell? Maybe you will see this. YOU Seem to like it lots. Hopefully your driving it still

I have a 67 Ford Econoline cargo or panel van if you will with the same motor you did a fine job on yours very nice work but the 240 and the 300 are not exactly identical block the 300 has more bore stroke Etc but basically the same. Good job

I have the same truck but it's got a 300...a twin Webber carb intake with tuned headers from Clifford performance...new brakes new drums new clutch new brake lines new radiator...rebuilt transmission ...rebuilt rear end...rebuilt front end all dropped 3 inches in the front..4 in the rear c notched the rear frame. Now I'm needing body work and paint...plus all the interior...and little things like mirrors and trim pieces...long way to go but I'm about 2/3rds done...the paintina is cool so?....cracker box white...now It needs a little tlc...lol and a boat load of money.....I love that 67s are the first year square style...

My 66 240 sounds exactly like yours. I have everything to swap it out for a 390 and I’ll probably get to it sometime the fall. I bought a 360 and found a 390 crank and a set of 390-428 rods. I bought a edelbrock 390 performer intake and a comp cams complete cam kit with everything. The engine came with the complete flywheel and clutch and bell housing and 3 speed transmission which is the same one behind the 240 and with the 9” heavy duty rear end with 3:89 gears should be able to pull anything.

Beautiful truck I've got a 65 ford f100 with a 240 6 with a c4 automatic 3spd no overdrive it's the best truck I've ever had working on them is so fun and easy and there durable little motors I prefer it to anything new out there

My 66 custom cab short bed has the 240 3 speed on the tree. I love the power of the little 6. Mine does have a 9” with 3:89 gears so it hums pretty good after 60 mph.
