How google would predict the upcoming customers' attitudes on our website based on previous conversion history? Doesn't make sense!

Great question. The Maximize Conversions strategy is utilizing Google's algorithm that is using people's previous search history and online activity to predict future behavior. The Max Conversion strategy is giving Google control to show ads to people that it thinks have a higher likelihood to convert vs. the Max Clicks strategy is just trying to drive the highest number of clicks with the set budget.

Awesome video, great explanation in a short time. I was wondering what can I do for promo campaigns? Account is an ecommerce brand with a lot of monthly conversions but I was wondering for a brand new campaign, does it need conversions from the whole account or specifically that new campaign? Campaign will last for about 10days

Thanks Vito, I'm glad you liked the video. The new campaign should be able to use the conversions from the Account level to fire up relatively quickly. It's Google...sooo... it really is an A/B test anytime you launch a new campaign. With your's being 10 days, I would launch it with a Max Conversions strategy. It will be in learning mode 4-5 days but if in the first 1-2 days you aren't seeing impressions, then the system is locked and doesn't know what to do in a Max Conversion environment. You will need to switch it to Max Clicks to get it to fire. Please let me know if this helped or you have additional questions.

Great question. That is certainly an option to maintain total control between the 3 different devices and control the budgets based on performance. I depends on the total budget that you are working with to make this decision. Thank you!

Have you ever noticed a dip in conversions when pushing tCPA up? I increased 15% and they really took a dip. Thanks

Great question, yes we have. We typically have to wait 2-3 weeks, sometimes a month, before the system re-aligns to the new tCPA.

My campaign don't have any conversion after 30 days running maximize click. What can I do to have more conversion besides continue running maximize click?

If you don't have enough Primary conversions to switch, implement Secondary conversions on the site like a button click on a call-to-action button or 45+ seconds on the site and 3+ page views. Then change these Secondary conversions to Primary. This will feed 'conversion data' to the algorithm from people that are engaged enough to click a call-to-action button or stay on the site for an extended period of time. These are still valuable visitors. Then when you have 30 of these new conversions, you have enough data to change to Max Conversions. Then the system will target more of these higher value visitors in the hopes of a percentage of them will convert into ACTUAL conversions like form submissions and phone calls. Once you have 30 actual conversions, change these original Secondary conversions back to Secondary so you are only tracking Primary conversions.

I have seen several videos which explain how to click the "I acknowledge" button, but do not explain exactly what is being acknowledged. Do we need to have privacy disclosures on our website if we acknowledge this, and if so, what are the requirements of those disclosures?

Thank you for the comment. It depends on how you are measuring the true cost whether it be Avg cpc or cost/conversion. If conversions are tracked properly and there are over 30 conversions in a 30 day window, Max Conversions is a more cost effective strategy to drive high-quality conversions that have a better chance of converting to customers.

I run Google Ads it’s a “call ad”. Previously I’ve had it at maximize clicks & daily budget at $5. Do I change to “maximize conversions?” Google wants me to set a target cost per action. Do I put that at $5 too?

Hello, I have over 100 conversions in 2 years ( Calls). If I just switch to Max Conversion, how much will Google Charge me for each Conversion? Anything they want? thank you.

Hi there and thank you for the question. 100 conversions in two years isn't enough data for the Max Conversions strategy to function properly. My suggestion would be to create additional Primary conversions in Ads like page views and time on site that tracks people's engagement once they land on your page. I realize these aren't ACTUAL conversions but they are still signals that Max Conversions can use to function properly. Once you have 30 of these Primary conversions, then you can switch to Max Conversions.

So in max click do you use only phrase / exact then? We do it differently - we start with broads in max conversion straight away + extensive neg list , then constantly making converted search terms into phrase or exact keywords and adding CPA if necessary. Hi there. Yes, in Max Clicks we use phrase and exact match. Then transition to Max Conversions, then broad match with extensive negative keywords.

Hi, I have a question. Lets say user clicked on an ad and purchased an item on the same day as well. In this case <1 day row would have 1 conversion. If the same user comes to buy an item again on 7th day (this time from organic search), would this conversion shows up in 6-7 days row? I am just trying to understand, for a website where purchases are happening everyday, can we set the windows to 90 days to capture as many conversions as we can (even if they comes from organic search later, they would still have gclid stored and sent to google)?

Great question. Yes, change the conversion window to 90 days to reflect your buyer's pattern of purchasing. Another suggestion is to make sure 'Data-Driven' is the attribution model for your conversions in Google Ads. This will allow for the system to distribute the attribution out to the different sources. It will result in decimal points but it is the recommended attribution model to get the most accurate conversion tracking data.

No, there really isn't. If the sale comes in weeks after the click or multiple sales over weeks or months, giving Google Ads credit will help with the bid strategy algorithm if you are running Max conversions or RAOS bid strategies. @@kannekantimanoj431

Thank you for the comment. Review the Search Terms behind your keywords. This shows the exact terms that Google shows your ads to. You will see high quality and low quality search terms. Potentially target the high quality search terms as keywords, if you aren't already, then the low quality search terms you will need to add them as negatives. Be careful on the negative match types. Defaulting to exact will always be the safest. Also, watch your Recommendations because Google will tell you if you have any conflicting NEGATIVE keywords that you added that are restricting the keywords that you are targeting. If your strategy is to drive more clicks, and not focus on conversions, then just Dismiss that recommendation. Most of those recommendations do not take into account your specific strategies so you have to take THOSE into consideration first before implementing any new changes.

Yes, if there aren't 15 conversions or more in the last 30 days and the budget isn't spending, then switching from Max Conversions to a Max Clicks strategy makes sense.

I do not have the pencil icon to change the tCPA at the ad group level. I only have the option to set the target cpa at the campaign level. could you please specify how did you get that option at the ad group level? thank you!

Hey Marouane, I'm happy to clarify this. The campaign has to have a Target CPA strategy set before you can change it at the Ad Group level. So, if you set the campaign at a tCPA of $150, that pencil icon should appear to the right of the $150 at the ad group view, then you can change it for each individual ad group. I was wondering about the technical implications of not doing this. I have a client who has google signals implemented. I checked GTM and GA4 myself, however according to google support it is not implemented. Could this be a blocker?
