I bought a used 1968 cherry sunburst Gibson B25 in 1970 when I was 19, I kept it until it got stolen in 2000. I recently was able to find and buy a 1971 cherry sunburst B25 Deluxe in mint condition. I'm selling my other six guitars and keeping the Gibson. I agree about there being something close to magical about them. Here's a young fellow playing a vintage B25 that has Santa Cruz low-tension strings on it, I put the same strings on my B25 and it sounds exactly like the one in this video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpiDnLKTmNStYo0.html

I was in Japan last October and went to Ochanomizu (Guitar Street) and found a Ritchie Kotzen signature Strat and had to get it. It was less than $1000 including a Fender hard case but I ended up flying home without it and getting it mailed to me. Alas, $1300, including shipping. Still, it's a stunning guitar with translucent blonde finish, maple neck and DiMarzio pickups (my least favorite part), 3-ply pearloid pickguard and gold hardware.

It not remotely aquamarine (which is teal) -- it's actually ultramarine, an easy enough mistake for the illiterate...

You look like you still feel a little uncomfortable with that guitar, whereas with a Strat, it feels at home. I feel the same way with PRS. Great guitars, but I'll always be a Strat/jag guy. 🤷♂️

I've been upgrading MIM Player guitars lately. Sam Ash, upon closing, had a couple for sale. My conclusion is that they are basically the same as the lower American series (Pro I, Pro II), minus the setup. They produce a lot of these MIM guitars, making them a great platform to upgrade. Mine hits just as hard as my Ultra Deluxe (I named the Ultra Deluxe "The Lady" to show how much I love that thing so it's not a small statement to say it's comparable). Here are the upgrades I made: Upgraded the bridge (not a fan of vintage bridges). Added a graphite string tree or the Fender rolling string tree. Installed locking tuners. The pickguards are surprisingly great-big, solid parts, not the cheap ones you find in Squires, and they come with a proper capacitor. Upgraded the pickups? I'd say listen to them first; you might like them stock, so maybe upgrade. Necks were a challenge-sharp as can be. The issue wasn't the wood (pau ferro) but that it was totally untreated. It felt like a desert. I oiled mine with Danish oil (could have used tung oil), and after three days of treatment, the wood looked amazing and felt great. Problem solved. The gloss maple fretboards didn't have issues. Both necks needed major fret work: leveling, fixing fret sprout, crowning, and polishing. Overall cost: $1,100-$1,600. However, if you need to sell them for quick cash, don't expect to get much more than $600. It sucks that's the case, but the instrument will atleast rock. It won't be a custom shop guitar, but you might prefer it over your Ultra every once in a while. Where MIM guitars shine, in my opinion, is in the materials. The neck is worth fixing, the body is top-notch, and the pickguards and electronics are surprisingly good. I've compared them with higher-end Fenders, and they're pretty impressive. The tremolo block is beefy. It's not a case of skimping on parts. I think they keep the cost down by simply not setting them up. They take a good guitar, make sure it works, and then box it up. That's my theory because the parts are good.
@petersouthwell597119 сағат бұрын
Bonus tip. These guitars are re-sold ALOT... And they MOSTLY sell for under they're new value. You can get a MIM guiar used no problemo for $450-500. Now this is a great upgrade platform. It's literally cheaper then even building a kit. Great way to learn guitar tech skills. The MIM parts are good enough that all you have to do is love them to make a pro instrument. Now I know there's the Squire Classic vibe people... My issue there is.. They come in Millimeter measurements.. So there's less after market parts for options.

I had the Standard RSS02t which I bought when it was released. I like it so much I bought the entry level Element RSE20 for $500. I liked the $500 Element so much that I sold the $800 Standard and bought a Gator Transit gig bag. I love that Element. It is 7lbs 2 onces, well balanced, and the fretboard was rolled. It makes me smile every time I play it.

The ability for Indonesian factories to produce an end product that's competitive has never been the issue... The way they get there is the issue.... Indonesia is the #1 country in the world for ocean pollution... Minimum Wage in Indonesia also comes out to less than $1 an hour.... you can take a wild guess at $1 an hour what the healthcare and benefits are like along with OSHA standards. I think its high time we as an industry raised the bar.

Local currency for local currency the Revstar Standard is the best guitar you can buy. Which is why the Revstar Premium is such a hard sell. The only reason to get a Premium is if you want a Goldtop one.

good to see you back , I had bought one identical from Guitar center used at 450, overall the fit and finish was excellent but it had a few dead spots [frets] that I couldn't get rid of , I had tried myself and took it in for their luthier to fix but they never went away, beside that it was a fantastic guitar

grown men still not understanding the basics of economics. The guitar prices never went up. It was the value of money that was almost cut in half as they doubled the worlds money supply under the guise of a certain flue. The prices will never go down again because the value of money will continue to exponentially fall.
