I so agree with the post partum care plan, I only have one child but I planned this because I’ve always suffered on and off with anxiety and depression. I expected to suffer with post partum mental health issues. I remained on anti anxiety meds that were baby safe and I started therapy in advance of delivery. I sailed through it and in fact my anxiety is so much less worse since having a child! Mine is 2.5yrs old now, slowly starting to think about a second ❤

Just a word of warning not all breast pumps are able to be fully cleaned. There are “open systems” and “closed systems” which means bacteria can be in a place you can’t reach to clean and then you get mastitis. That’s why you shouldn’t share just any breast pump. Hopefully this helps a momma. Great video and thank you!

This was really helpful, thank you! In my first trimester with my first and already thinking about a Minimalist -> Montessori method. I dread the idea of having a mountain of plastic toys and other baby things that I don’t actually need.

Crazy thing about parenting is when you see them mirror the way you talk to them to younger children. My toddler has a younger cousin and she's so nice to her saying "its not safe to go outside on your own" or "this is dirty, do you want to pick up a toy instead?". Its crazy to me because she barely speaks in full sentences to us!

Everest is what I wanted to name my baby boy but my husband wasn’t a fan so we went with Evan (first) Walker (middle). I love his name. I always want to include my husband in the names which it was hard bc it took him a long time to decide and pick what he liked.

I just called a pediatrician at our major medical center and was told they wouldn’t see me as a patient because I didn’t want my newborn getting the hep b vaccination. Denying care because you’re choosing to deviate slightly from the “recommended” schedule is insane to me. When did recommended become mandatory for care?

Thanks for the info! I’m nanny a baby girl who only uses disposable diapers, but evidence supports using cloth diapers because children can feel ‘wetness’ and be better in tune with when they pee. This helps a ton when you need to potty train! Otherwise little ones don’t even know they’ve peed because disposable diapers wick away the moisture so fast I’ve got another year or two until it’s potty time but we’ll see!

What about exclusively pumping moms?
@jessicajitweir151310 күн бұрын
I would love to hear some reasons why you have children, and 3 at that! The US total fertility rate is declining, it is less than replacement rate. Do you think having children is important work? Is it just something people do? Do you just enjoy children? Is it a moral good to have children from your worldview? We live in a world where there are many adults not having children, it is inconvenient, expensive, etc. I recently put purpose behind my parenthood journey and it made all the difference in dealing with the struggles. A mindset change that you talk about, I think it begins with finding purpose beyond ataining a "positive emotional state".

I had horrible lightening crotch with my son and was already 4cm dilated before I even went into labor. Hopefully that means the same for you!

I've been doing research on the "snacks" of labor while dealing with the "why are my hips and thighs and arms getting fat" thoughts now that I'm nearing the end of pregnancy #4. I learned that fatty acid deposition (estrogen assisted lady zones of fat) are the body and baby preparing for labor. What you are eating during labor is 100% going to be burned in the sweat of labor, but the real work is being done by the stored trigycerides oxidating as the uterus works its magic. It really helped me stress less and pack whatever for snacks because my tiny body apparent thought "this lady needs more fat stores" and took care of the energy storage/packing for me. :P Random fun stuff here, folks.

I am 20 months in to breastfeeding with my 5th, we have been trying to wean since may. We are down to nap and bedtime, and then he nurses literally ALL NIGHT LONG. At this point, i havent had a good nights sleep in 3 1/2 year, because before i was breastfeeding this guy, i was exclusively pumping for my now 3 and a half year old. (I did that for 15 months) mama is TIRED 😂 Im going to have to get those books, he loves to read. I think he will love that. My husband and i did the same with the divide and conquer type of approach, and he definitely prefers me to EVERYONE. He will cry if my husband tries to put him to bed, and not just cry, he will FREAK OUT. It definitely sucks because i cant do anything or go anywhere and leave him with someone. I havent been to the gym in a year, and that was my "get your head on straight" time. 😫 I know we will get there eventually but im worried he will be like 5 and still need to nurse to sleep 😵💫
