I put a little bit in the little bottle. Every time I turned it over to us it, it would come out the tip without me squeezing it. I would get big puddles on the acrylic. When I get home, I'll have to try your technique.

What is the gauge of the needle in your applicator bottle? Is there a best or recommended gauge needle to go with?

I don't understand why you factor in your profit as a multiple of your materials. What about custom projects where the customer provides the materials? Even if only doing retail, this strategy doesn't make sense to me. Otherwise, this is an ok starting point and gives a few things to consider for local and online startups.

You always want to make back what you spent on supplies by at least X 3 so you can invest back in your supplies and still pay yourself. You can add in other expenses as stated (cost of overhead, etc.) and then charge at least a minimum hourly wage for yoru time (you set your own hourly rate as high as you want). As far as letting people provide you with materials you should determine what you want to charge for your time. This video isn't for that type of work. I don't let customer send me product as the risk for me isn't worth messing up their product.

Why are you trying to tell people to devalue themselves by only charging minimum wage?
@robertketch85082 ай бұрын
Exactly what I thought. If I wanted to work for minimum wage I would do it for no risk and paid holidays.
@TheLaserCollective2 ай бұрын
That is a minimum to charge. That should be obvious. You should be at LEAST charging your time at this amount. You can charge more. But most do NOT even factor in their time at all. They charge for supplies and that is it. Use some common sense!

In the video you mention a polish to clean up any excess.. what do you use? I couldn’t find it linked or in your Amazon store. Thank you!
@TheLaserCollective7 ай бұрын
I'm not sure, can you give me the minute mark? The only thing I can think of is this: www.custommadebetter.com/search?q=polish&options%5Bprefix%5D=last - the novus polish stuff. But I haven't used it for this. If it goes everywhere I don't know how easy that would be to fix as it melts the acrylic. This is why if I accidentally drop a drop on there, I just try and let it evaporate and not touch it or move it around while it does evaporate.
@user-ii5ww6nq6z7 ай бұрын
Thank you! It was at 4:53. You mention nova something so this is helpful! My bottle of Weldon didn’t come with an applicator so I ordered some on Amazon, but I was having trouble keeping it in the needle without it dripping out.. I will try the nova stuff linked up here!

Great info. Quick question, if I laser (engrave or fill) on ceramic can I use these pens for that and will the paint last a wash i.e. a ceramic coffee mug?
@TheLaserCollective7 ай бұрын
I've never tried. But these are acrylic, so I think you could use anything really as long as you sealed it. It would be worth trying!

thank you, I'll give it a try. Is there a sealer you recommend?@@TheLaserCollective

I seal before I laser in order to remove soot easier. R u sealing again after that or just the one time after lasering? Because my acrylic paint is not adhering.

I think I read somewhere that the bonding agent you are using is extremely toxic and one should use protective gear when using including a respirator. What are your thoughts
@dangerhotrod694110 ай бұрын
I have read a bunch about how toxic it is too (carcinogenic), I would wear nitrile gloves, clothing covering your body and a full face respirator, and work in a well ventilated area - especially if you are exposed to it frequently.
