Your review saved me money and worry. I had already purchased this, was waiting on it and lumber and was having buyers remorse. I was worndering about using a compressor instead. I am doing my own house, and bought this for my roof. After seeing this I realized I can use it for my siding also, perfect. It looks great for me. My wife and I will be slower than a crew and without hoses and such that looks perfect. I will let you know how it does. I have 3800sq ft of roofing to do.

30% more speed and a pound lighter and it would be perfect. Maybe someday they will perfect it.

For a home owner who needs to roof and side his home, is the cordless good enough? Or should I buy a compressor and get the pneumatic version DW45RN?

The tool weighs 3.48 kgs/7.69 lbs when assembled. That would be a hard pass for most people regarding the belt hook option.

I bought one , died with about 8-10 uses . I am retired from many trades and treat tools very well . My guess is that I was used to it leaking air randomly , I would turn it off because my use was mostly less than 1/4 hour needs --- because of the leaking [ another issue ] I did not want to listen if not needing air , then assuming that the next time I needed air - about 1/2 hour later I turned it back on - it grunted & died --- again my guess is that it had leaked very little maybe 70-80 lbs. and trying to turn the pump back on against 70-80 lbs killed it . Took it apart , both to find the leak & see if I could get it going again ;) Well it has a circuit board in a plastic box , and is potted [ filled with something like a hard silicone ] dided try to dig out the board , with components so small these days - figured a lot of work to expose and probably do damage removing potting ;) The new board comes attached to all of the wiring , compressor etc. and cost as much as new --- NOT GOING TO DO THAT AGAIN .

PEX A is tried and true, lol. Only current issue is with Uponor blue and red PEX A due to the process the used to add color to the pipe. Other brands seem to be unaffected.

can I use flat-head screws to replace a shingle? This nailer seems an overkill, and a hammer requires lifting up the shingle above too much and is otherwise less convenient.

I’ve got a Mk1 545 which lives on a 15” bar. It’s had a 18” for quite a while. I never fitted anything longer. I went with the rule of thumb of divide the cc by 3. Anything bigger would need semi skip chain to get the best from the saw. But the original had an output of 2.5kW, whereas the Mk2 got an upgrade to 2.7kW. So maybe the extra oomph has enabled a longer bar. Still a great saw. Manoeuvrable, light and revs up quickly. Plus being a reliable saw. When mine partially seized due to a slight air leak, after 9+yrs. of faultless service, I came real close to buying another while mine was being rebuilt. The only reason I didn’t, was I knew I wouldn’t need two 545s. So I still have the 545 Mk1, for when I need a lighter weight saw. At only 10.8LBs it’s a great saw for smaller trees and clearing out up a tree. For bigger sticks and stuff, I have other saws.

I’m a roofer and I’m getting this for whole roof installs. Tired of hoses and air compressors. Hoses get tangled, stuck, not enough length, or worse which has happened to me, you accidentally step on it and fall. Just carry a few 5ah batteries and your good for the day.
