This controller doesn't appear to have a fan. When you run a 240V heating element the SSR gets REALLY HOT. A fan should always be used to keep remove heat from the heatsink unless you're using a really large external heatsink. A 12v fan is more convenient. I'd expect the SSR to fail prematurely if a fan is not used.

what is the advantage on measuring temp at the mashtun outlet vs herms coilc outlet? I see you measure at the mashtun outlet what is your reason to do this?
@Brausupply
@Brausupply 4 ай бұрын
Measurement at the mash tun outlet is telling you the temperature the wort actually reached on its way down through the grain bed. Measurement at the herms coil outlet tells you what temperature of wort you're putting back on top (the wort temperature that hasn't reached the grains yet). I suppose there isn't a 'wrong' way to do it, if you know your system you'll know the differential of the two of these. BUT, the output temperature of the wort leaving the HERMS coil outlet, will be close to the HLT temperature, and therefore it's not as informative as the temperature leaving the mash tun. in other words the differential is greater measuring at the HLT tank, and the outlet of the mash tun, giving you better information to adjust your HLT temperature with. Does that make sense?

This system looks like it had allot and I really do mean allot of thought, put to it, way to eliminate one tier out of a three tier system, and a great utilization of the jacketed fermenter. Obviously great for a home brewer and a micro brewer. Cheers 🎉

Have you determined an approximate evaporation rate using the condenser? I did a 60 minute vigorous boil today and only lost 1/4 of a gallon. I'm trying to nail the evaporation rate so my SG isn't too low. 🙂

It’d be nice if the bag came with a cinch/bungee sewn in at the height of the whirlpool port, so one could but the bag inside the basket and still recirculate without getting the basket dirty or risk scorching the bag. This would also make removal of the bag/grain smoother. I like the metal basket (it’s largely the reason I chose this system) because it sits on the top of the kettle to make fly sparging possible and has the tri-clamp port for recirculation, and it’s solid walled. But having the bag work a little better with it would be great.

This looks like an Inkbird rebrand for 70 bucks more... My original brau temp controller crapped out, so now I have to replace it.

My ETC controller crapped out, so now I'm going to have to replace it. I'm going to get the INKBIRD PID to replace it, why are you guys up charging like 70 bucks for the same controller that inkbird is selling? Looks identical to your SV1...

I dont understand this sparge arm set up… why not have your ball valve connection stay the same and just put a hose with a female QD inside during the Mash?? Like why make a huge mess disconnecting all the TCs when you are going to put in a QD??? Am I missing something?

Long story short, I just did a batch without chilling. I just poured it I to my SS fermenter and put it in my fermentation chamber. It took like 12 hours for the temp to come down for pitching. I wonder how it's going to turn out 😬

Ok so I've been researching for the past 6 months wither I would buy this unit or the Spike 20 gallon. Both appear to be top notch units... But the same pattern prevails with the unibrau and that would be timely customer service/response times. Alot of reviews I've seen or read all said that it takes a while for the owner/inventor to eventually get back with the customer. For this price range it is completely unacceptable to me for this to even happen. It just makes me side with the competition as a consumer more than anything else.

Why use a cloth bag when you designed the perfect metal one. Isn’t this the whole reason for a all in one BIAB systems, aren’t you going backwards. I might as well continue with my one vessel BIAB pot and save a crap load on $$$… Just saying, if you’re confident in your design why go backwards… I really like your systems and was saving up for one , but come on…completely on the fence now…

Hi Steven, I've been brewing on a Unibrau for a couple of years now, always all-grain. However, I've always purchased pre-milled grains. This looks like the way to go on milling your own.

With the bag outside the malt pipe, you cannot use a finer grain crush because the screen at the bottom of the malt pipe will still clog.

Just curious - why not place the temp sensor on a T before the pump (instead of after the pump)? I would imagine that would be a better place in the even that you don't want to run the pump but you still need to know the temperature.

In my books, I had the main characters turn to making their own liquor - moonshine - for fuel, medicinal purposes, as well as trade and consumption...so I bought a still for research. My books characters also made beer, so I'm researching systems. It can't be too difficult or impractical in their peculiar setting so I hope you produce a video to convince me for such an investment.
