M8 prolly beats it badly from a dig

I have a 2021 X5M comp and for me it's a fantastic all around vehicle. The V8 in the full M models mainly sounds different than the M performance models because of the different exhaust manifolds. It allows for a wider torque powerband between 1800-5800 rpm. That is amazing for a V8. M 850i doesn't have that wide torque band. As to the ride being firmer than the M performance models, that is by design. It is an M vehicle.

I think this is a really great review and I believe you coverd the most important things especially when it comes to comparing the M850 I with the M8. One thing I would love to watch is a comparison between the sound of the exhaust between the two cars because I believe one more negative thing about the M8 is the fact that it doesn’t sound as good as the M850

I just bought a 2021 m850 gc with under 30k miles. It has everything option available and all the carbon fiber. MSRP was 133k. I paid 62k so I’m not shocked at that offer.

Don't know about AUDI but where I am at every mechanic that touches my car, even for a few minutes, counts as one hour of labour, so the bills are usually fun. As for diagnostics, many times the most expensive thing, I can do them all myself on two (official) diagnostic tools that I bought for around 200 Euros, however, BMW will not accept that and will usually charge 6 hours of labour for their diagnostics. Oh, and my car is pristine, so I pay five times more for labour than for the oils and parts. Aren't official dealers fun?

Gonna go from 2023 540i to M850i at some point in next year. 540i is such a solid car but I didn't know how much I wanted a twin-turbo V8 until I got into one. Now that the new BMWs are all going touchscreen with massive kidney grills, I want something a little more... traditional before it goes away.

I just bought one of these - had it less than a week. I absolutely love it. Way more power then the s7 or gt43/53. Agree on the wireless charger. Mine works, but the contact patch to charge is relatively small and as soon as I start driving, the phone slides around and off the charger.

Congratulations on the M8 👍🏼. In all means it is a better car definitely. But for the purpose of a daily drive car i think the M850 will serve you better. From comfort wise it is more comfortable and more luxurious. You have a rear wheel steering which makes a big difference and you don’t get that on an M8. And last and most of all the M850i sound way much better as a V8 than the M8 and no one can deny this fact. But nonetheless beautiful car and color such as mine.🎉

Congratulations on getting the M8 Competition GC. Beautiful car. Looks like Tanzanite Blue. Really pops in the sun. A couple years ago I was looking to get a new X5 M50i or an X5M Competition. Back to back test drives showed quite a difference between the two. Of course I chose the X5M Competition. It was a long 5 week wait for it to be built and deliver it to the West coast. Keep us updated and good luck with the car.

I have the same auto, in a 2-door coupe', however. It's terrific, in every aspect, and I (personally) love the full Merino Ivory-colored leather interior !!

I own a 23 850 GC. The things that bother me is the interior space. It`s not much bigger than a 4 series and the car is huge. Another thing are the 20 inch wheels. They are bad on rough pavement and when I hit a small bump in the road, it soundsl ike they are about to fall off. The third thing are the OEM wheels. They look like bycicle tires. 275 section on a car of this size is a joke. I put some 305s on it. makes a huge difference.

I had a 2018, a 2019 X3 M40i and my current 21 X5M. The wireless charger on them always worked great.

400 is actually cheap for an oil change on R8,, I do my own oil change in a mod Rsq8. Using Motul oil and is about 400$

Thank you. I have M550i but am contemplating the M8. I am glad you find it good for daily driving. I also have heard same comment on the sound being better on the 850i. I believe e they may have some rebates going also. Best to you with your decision.

I don't think combustion engines are going anywhere. The Europeans keep second guessing their decision to stop because there's just too much demand and their economy can't take such a drastic change. The Asians are more realistic, make both and let the customer decide.

The first service was $400 is basically for an oil change which is not bad, but they killed you on the second one with the addition of the brake fluid flush which which is labor intensive. I only took my 2014 R8 V10 only once to the dealership for a recall on coolant expansion tank and offered me $2000 for 5 year service which included spark plugs, oil change, cabin filter change which I think is not bad. But I refused it since I know I did not need plugs at that time with my low miles. Five years later it still runs like new with the same plugs. These cars are really reliable than my Toyota Camry. I don’t want to brag but I do my own oil and brake service on my R8 and it is pretty cheap 😂
