He is not actually as selfish as you think. Many DIRECTORS admitted that Raja sir not charged for their movies. I've also seen him go out of his way to help people during flood. Yeah i agree, Rahman and Deva tell about their musicians but Raja sir donates 3% of the money he generates from royalties to the cine Musicians Union. You better refrain from commenting on things you don't know about.

I don’t know if you are aware of this. IR takes zero help from others while composing tunes and writing down the orchestration. For a typical song, he uses 50-80 musicians to play his music. They just play the notes. He cannot give credit to so many people. All other music directors, especially Rahman takes help from the singers (tunes) and musicians to do the orchestrations. In fact, most of the music directors before IR left the orchestration entirely to their assistants. Rahman also has done the same. So, naturally they have to give credit for them.

From everything I've watched, Ilayaraja's "arrogance" is mainly people finding a reason to hate him. Every person in this word has pride, but if it's displayed by a celebrity, we label it as arrogance. People made such a huge fuss out of the royalty issue without even understanding what the issue was in the first place. Media outlets twisting it into a personal issue between SPB and Ilayaraja added fuel to the fire. If anyone actually bothered to look into the actual problem, they'd have realized Ilayaraja was in the right. In all the videos I've watched, there's only ONE that I found his behavior to be actually inappropriate. The security guard incident. With regards to how he actually treated people off camera, do any one of us know the truth? From what I know based on all the interviews by people who have been with him since before Annakili and those who have worked with him a long time, Ilayaraja's discipline and integrity towards his work is unmatched. In fact, he is credited with bringing discipline to to the industry and improving the standard of our musicians. So where does this "Ilayaraja is egoistic" label come from? From valid sources? People having an unrealistic expectation of how someone famous should talk and behave? Or just propaganda by people in the industry who wanted to bring him down? You're right about the slightest insecurities getting amplified as one grows older but in my personal opinion, all the hate towards him is unwarranted.

Not sure when people gonna stop criticism/talk about raja sir's character, It's a deep politics. If you brought up from his circumstances, you may know about the huddles where everyone facing due to discrimination, though he broken it and turned a unbeatable power in music. Also why we are not talking about the character of legends who are t.m soundararajan, MGR , sivaji gansesan, kamalahasan, mani rathnam, balachander, etc. We should be proud to have him!. @@SimpleTamilMan , Make no mistake. I am the biggest fan of Ilayaraja. Not a day goes without his song. I am also big fan of SPB. Unfortunately the humility stands contrast when you see SPB who achieved the peak in his field as well. Rahman would not have come into picture if Illayaraja had stayed humble and not fight with everybody. That's the truth. It has nothing to do with politics or caste issue.
