Oh I love the sound of those EMD locomotives. I hope they stay in service for many more years.

DP's in the flattest part of the county is such a waste of time. In hilly and mountainous areas it helps going over large hills. In the winter it does help get the break pressure up par. But thats it. Other wise we have to waste a bunch of time fueling DPs that are 2000 feet from the head end. That means waiting on a ride to get back to your train once you're done. This is never fast. And the YM's always want them parked in some ridiculous part of whatever yard you're in.
@CSXRailfanNick100322 күн бұрын
I just found it interesting when photoing/filming how oddly placed it was on the train. Once it was all done and passed, I could still hear the DPUs throttling up even past the train.

The original alignment joins just north of Penry Rd. You can see a bit of low brush in front of the right crossing signal, that's the original track location. It was all moved further east to it's present location after the 1913 flood that destroyed much of the central Ohio area. The original line crossed the Olentangy River twice in a short area, on the south and the west sides of the sewage treatment plant in Delaware. It crossed to the west side of the river and ran along a short section of the present Rt. 23. There was a passenger station around E. William St., but after the flood there was no station in Delaware. Of course back then it wasn't an NS line, It was the Hocking Valley, which the Pennsylvania took over, before NS. It's really easy to see on Google Maps.
