If you want a fantasy game with a well-realized open world- Just play Elden Ring If you want a polished, fun, high intensity action game- Just play Devil may Cry If you want an in-depth RPG with a compelling story and character drama- Just play Baldurs Gate If you want to have epic battles with cool boss monsters- Just play Monster Hunter If you want to have the power fantasy of saving the world and being a god among NPCs- just play Skyrim.

One very good example of you being wrong is if you side with Netwatch during your quests with the Voodoo boys. They get hunted by netwatch to the point of almost never seeing them again in Pacifica

When I played this, years ago, all the missing features and empty promises unintentionally added to the experience. The world in the game is a empty husk thanks to the soulless decisions of apathetic corporations. The game, incomplete and rushed to market, is an empty husk, thanks to the soulless decisions of apathetic corporations. Honestly I'd like to return to it someday but *man* did it depress me when I played it.

I played the game throughout a whole year, up until then, there were a bunch of updates. Now, I started the game again from the beginning as a Street Kid and I killed those idiots, from whom I had to buy the bot, because they told my boy to sit and we did not like that, then after that, when I was riding through their neighbourhood they kept chasing and killing me and after killing them I picked up shards where they had messages about wanting to kill me for what I did ^^

My guy you're talking about when you raided clouds and killed woods and a bunch of tiger claws, Johnny wasn't lying when he said they wouldn't forget this, he just wasn't talking about you. After that mission the claws come back to clouds, naturally, and maeko makes a deal with the Tyger claws which ends in 3 different ways, all of which happened because the claws didn't forget what happens at clouds

I mean his underlying point still stands. Unless they've covertly added it in, there's no faction system with the gangs in 2k77.
@sutonzu
@sutonzu 19 сағат бұрын
@theonetruefishboy3239 while that's true, I've found that the different gangs treat you differently based on how many of them you've killed. On my current playthrough I tried to kill the valentinos as little as possible and only knocked them out when i had to do gigs involving them, and whenever i would hang around a group of them outside of combat, they would be aware of Mr but wouldn't get alerted and start combat. It stayed this way until I did the gig at the valentinos run bar where you find the Valentino that as at Jackie's ofrenda, when I did it I couldn't do it completely undetected and after that gig, they would instantly whip their guns out and start combat with me when I'd try to hang around them. I tried doing a similar thing with the 6th street and only knocked them out for most of my playthrough but I don't know, I could just be imagining things but I like to think gangs just generally start to tolerate your presence less each time you kill them

@sutonzu You're referring to the side quest "Pisces". Correct me if im wrong, but im fairly certain that quest happens in the same way REGARDLESS of what you did for the earlier clouds quest. Yes, the Claws are involved in "Pisces" but what you did earlier (which prompted Johnny to say that dialogue) doesn't actually affect the Pisces quest, which happens later in the game. The game really tries to make it seem like there are so many branching paths, but in reality, most options wrap back to the same overall outcomes. My point isnt that the claws just dissappear from the game or somethin lol, my point is that what you did has no bearing on what happens later, despite the game trying to make it seem like it does. Unless there was some update that I dont know about, I havent played it in a little while.
@sutonzu
@sutonzu 18 сағат бұрын
@chrisrivera7530 naw I dont know entirely I'm just speaking from memory, I haven't done that side quest in a while, but I get your point, the end of the whole clouds quest line is the same pretty much regardless of what you do, and that's how it is for most sml decisions like thst in cyberpunk. Is what it is yk, I'd anything the illusion of choice is nice

I mean this video was decent until the end when he started ranting about shit he was wrong about cause he never played the endgame. “Even the true ending cutscene doesn’t wrap anything up!” Yeah because a lot of these plot lines get wrapped up in the unmoored world, which he definitely did not play. Probably just looked up “dd2 true ending” and watched the cutscene. Now the real criticism is that the stories themselves still aren’t interesting and them having an ending doesn’t magically solve that, but it just weakens your argument when you start getting emotional and ranting about something you’re wrong about. Do you think it’s dumb the main story endings are hidden behind what is essentially a secret end game state of the world? I think it’s wild. If you notice, the opening title card is just “Dragon’s Dogma,” and it isn’t until you enter the unmoored world that the full title “Dragon’s Dogma II” drops, and I gotta be honest that is one of the hardest title drops I’ve ever seen. The balls of the devs to do that. Would’ve been sick if the stories were actually interesting

31:30 Wrong, you gotta explore better. That guy was named Darragh, and he was being groomed to become the next Thief-Maister. But he failed. He took a big hit to the chest on one of those pendulum training circuits, and it left him ineligible to become the next Thief-Maister. So instead he decided to use his chest scar to pretend to be an Arisen, like the game establishes right from the beginning happens a lot (and Magistrate Waldar also mentions it). And his timing was great, because Disa needed a fake Arisen. This is literally a part of the main quest iirc.

Never played the first part, bu I've been "researching" this game on and off for months now and I still can't decide if I'm gonna buy it or not. The only thing people seem to agree on is bad performance (not a big deal to me) and lack of enemy variety. As someone who plays a medieval fantasy game at pretty much all times since 1990, I should probably give it a shot, no? No?
@chrisrivera7530
@chrisrivera7530 3 күн бұрын
@rha7588 I mean, it really depends on what youre looking to get out of it. If story is the main thing you want, DEFINITELY look elsewhere lmao. If you want an RPG with lots of side encounters, where it feels like your actions really affect the world, this isn't the worst choice. But it isn't great either since none of it really matters overall because of the non existant story lmao. If you really just want to explore a dense open world, then this is a decent option. Though your milage will vary due to the extreme lack of enemy and item variety. It you want to just go run around fighting enemies, it's not the worst option, but again, your mileage will vary due to the spammy nature of the combat and the extreme lack of enemy variety. Like I said in the video, I was having a great time for like 15 or so hours, so its not like the game has nothing going for it. But since the runtime is a lot closer to 40-60 hours long, that repetition, lack of variety, and constant meaningless fetch quests became massive issues for me. If you think you could put up with that stuff more than I did, then it might be worth it. But obviously, I am not a big fan and would not recommend it outright lol

@@chrisrivera7530 Thx for the reply, I'm leaning towards waiting for a price drop, sounds like it's not 100% up my alley. I prefer sinking hundreds of hours into open worlds messing around with different weapons and enemies while enjoying side quests and random side activies like Elder Scrolls, Witcher 3, recent Zeldas etc. because such games did not exist when I was a kind and I'm not burnt out on open worlds yet. Might even buy my first ever UbiSof game and try AC Valhalla.

@rha7588 of course, glad I could help! Yeah DD2 definitely isnt the worst option, but waiting for a sale is probably what id do. As far as other current Fantasy RPGs, I thought FF16 was pretty solid with a decent story, world, and combat. And I 100% have to recommend Elden Ring and its new DLC. Not sure if souls games are your thing, but thats pretty much the top dog IMO for open world games. Insane variety of enemies, weapons, and locations.

In my opinion those open world games's problem is not the sheer size of the map, I personally love big maps, the problem is lack of variety. The witcher 3 did an awesome job at adding variety to a world, and the quests were awesome, the contracts, the side quests, all of it. Elden Ring has a massive world that even today we still discover things we didn't know, so the size in itself isn't a problem, the problem lies in the content which fills the said map. And the biggest problem, in my opinion, with DD2 is that it really forces you into a new game plus mode after you discovered everything, so there is nothing new anymore to discover and not to mentiopn that I had to install mods for dificulty scaling in new game plus because it seemed too easy, most enemy bosses were almost one shot in ng+ with my thief build, I thought that ng+ will be harder, harder bosses, but no....

I'll never be convinced this was somehow Itsuno's true vision all along. Like, "Dragon's Dogma was alright, but it would be better if there was a single tiny elf village and a race of cat people. Next time we should have half as many equippable skills, fewer equipment options, and a smaller variety of monsters." Didn't another guy make Bitterblack Island? Maybe he should have been in charge of DD2. For a lot of people, myself included, BBI was the best part of the original game. Playing through the main game eventually became a chore I had to get out of the way in order to get to the good part.

I agree with all this, even being a great fan of the first game. Like I keep saying, I think they would've garned more success if they only remade the first game, expanded it with all the cut content they claim they had to do and call it a day. At least in there, story made sense despite being basic and there were more memorable scenes and events.

I hate what Capcom has pulled on this game. I loved Dark Arisen when I bought it last year, and it was genuinely the most fun I'd had with an action RPG since fucking _Elden Ring._ Why did they have to botch this game? This could have been the big hit. I know they have the money and developers to have made this into a *humongous* game, a titan to rival Elden Ring... but no. My only hope? They're working on a complete overhaul of the game and the story with the release of the DLC (I am huffing so much copium).

Honestly, I can't disagree with any of your points... but I still love Dragon's Dogma 2. There are a ton of things I wish the game did better. But Imo, the things the game did right were enough that I could ignore the things it did wrong, and enjoy my time with the game. For the most part, yes, DD2 is a worse version of DD1. But, the 2 areas that captivated me the most were the character creation (no other game comes close), and the non-handholding open world - which I think I had an exaggerated appreciation for after playing Final Fantasy Rebirth, and just desperately wanting more Dragon's Dogma after over a decade. And let me just say, I am a big sucker for a good character creator. I like the non-handholding open world design of games like Elden Ring, or Dragon's Dogma 2. Combine that with the best character creator around, and good (enough) combat, and I can get lost in the game and ignore most of the flaws. If I had to sum up Dragon's Dogma 2's flaws in a word, I'd say "unfinished". The game feels unfinished in a LOT of ways.

Baldurs gate 3 is definitely proof that open world games can be done well, same with elden ring and games as such where your choices do matter for how you experience the story. But that isn’t the only reason to have open world, the spider man games would abosultly suck if you were plopped into a level and never got to swing around, open world can make your travel opportunities so much more fun. Imagine if mknecraft plopped you in a plains biome and you hit a tree, a loading screen appeared and plopped uou on a cave, you broke some ore and it plopped you in the nether. That would suck so much because the freedom to play the game how you want is very important. I feel as if you have just taken all the examples of what you find missing in the open world games you play and not looking at all the open world games as a whole. If you only okay first person shooters then fine but that should be specified before not paying attention to any decent open world game
