Isn’t there a high chance of getting lost when you are out in the open and the path is completely covered in snow?
@silenttramping7 күн бұрын
Not in this area. At first, in the open flats, I just waked towards the campsite in the distance. Later on you just go towards Mount Cook. In the valley path goes through vegetation or on a boardwalk, even in deep snow you'd know immediately if you are off the path :)

Thank you for taking the time to walk to the Tarns! I’ve heard & seen so many pictures of the place even though I have lived in NP for numerous years years & haven’t got the stamina or inclination to bother climbing up the mountain, because I know I’d run out of puff!😃🙃😅

Hi. I’m late to the party, but quick question please? What camera did you use? I’m planning to do this track for the first time later this year. It looks sooooo good. Thank you for sharing this! 🥾

I was so impressed with the Shelter at the start. A really impressive building. You had perfect weather like I did. I had three perfect days last Easter. One I will certainly be doing again. Cheers for the quality, silent, video work.

Beautiful. Still a bit of snow around I see. Nice n quiet. We are thinking of doing the summit in a week or so. We'll see what the weather does. Last tramp was in the Tararua's. 4 days and quite steep. I've been up Egmont loads of times. I guess Kaweka J is not harder than that. Might even stay up in a hut? We usually carry a compact two person tent just incase. Thanks for the vid.

Thanks so much for uploading this, it gives a great feel for the reality of the tramp - and very useful to have it walked in this direction, as most KZfaq videos are from the other direction. Can you recall how the actual tramping times lined up with the times indicated on the signs? I.e., Kaiauai Carpark to Kaiauai Shelter; Kaiauai Shelter to Mt Henry Peak; Mt Henry Peak to Pouakai Tarns; Pouakai Tarns to Pouakai Hut? I'm not expecting you to remember all these, but any that you can would be very helpful!
@silenttramping9 ай бұрын
I can give you time of day for each location according to gopro file data. 11:19 start 12:45 Kaiauai shelter 14:56 Mt Henry Peak 15:50 Pouakai Tarns 16:20 Pouakai Hut
