I found my 700 at a gun show. Fluted barrel, synthetic stock, with a muzzle break. I went in looking for a long rifle in .308 and came away with I feel is my best purchase at a gun show. I had to add a rail so I could put a scope on it. Whoever sold it to the dealer stripped off everything but the muzzle break. But its a damn fine rifle.

I’ve always been a Winchester M70 guy but I’ve toyed with the idea of a Sendero SFII in 7RM for a number of years. Maybe, if I ever find one at a decent price but spending easily north of $1K and then having to spend more money for a trigger… I’ll stick with my Winchesters, thank you!

Wrong. The barrel and stock type make a huge difference. A better trigger can minimize the shooter's error.

30-06 is the best round ever made for whitetails due to the available bullet weight in commercial ammo, furthermore shot placement is the most important factor in any hunting situation.

Nice to see this pompaus old fart is still making smoke and money off a "world record" when Mitch Rompola already shattered it. This guy couldn't kill time on a stop watch compared to Mitch. Funny this guy gives how to tips to the average weekend warrior while he probably shot this deer from the road. Would love to see this guy in a heavily pressured state hunting without guides. Enjoy your fame, why don't you do a video on why Mitch's buck isn't in the record books sometime. We're all waiting to hear that one.

180 grain in 308 makes you look at those cookie cutter 270s and 7mags and laugh cause those folks always tracking their deer lmao
@megastick93242 жыл бұрын
Why? No magic in a 308, and pretty rare to find anyone shooting 180 gr bullets in them. In fact there is no magic cartridge at all. Shot placement beets caliber and bullet weight every time. A well placed 223 is way more effective than a miss with a howitzer.
@TheSupraman2jzgte2 жыл бұрын
@@megastick9324 it's not magic. It's knock down power. When accurately placed.
@megastick93242 жыл бұрын
@@TheSupraman2jzgte any deer rifle does that when accurately shot. And there are a LOT more 308s around then any of the 270s and 7mags, so that actually makes the 308 the cookie cutter by sheer numbers.
@TheSupraman2jzgte2 жыл бұрын
@@megastick9324 from the look of the whole bullet yes.. the kinetic energy from a 180gr. Does so much more damage as in knock down power. It's not complicated. Im just stating that I've shot all 3 rifles listed and I've never had to track a deer like I do with the other calibers. Try it one day.
@megastick93242 жыл бұрын
@@TheSupraman2jzgte I have all 3, and more. So, 180gr in any 30 cal should be the same if your using kinetic energy. The fact is none of those cartridges knocks down anything . If the bullet hits the central nervous system, it drops them, if it takes out the front shoulders, it drops them. All rifles do the same. A 7mm mag has much more lb/ft of energy than a 308. A slightly smaller projectile traveling faster. It’s simple math. And , A 180gr in any cartridge going similar speed would be virtually identical, like a 30-06. A bigger bullet traveling slower would also have the same energy. There are books by the thousands on the subject. It is all physics.

This talk about getting better accuracy from a slightly dirty barrel seems wrong. I don’t know for sure that it is wrong, but it just sounds wrong compared to conventional wisdom, and even modern wisdom from precision shooters.
@timothym2241 Жыл бұрын
A completely clean barrel will often shoot to a different point of impact. You will see more consistency between shots 2 through say 50, than you will between shots 1 (completely clean) and 2. If you sight in your rife and make adjustments with say 5 or 10 shots, if you now clean it and take it hunting, your first shot, the one that counts, will often hit to a different point of impact. Why? That little bit of fouling (mostly carbon) affects the bore. Best practice is to go hunting with a slightly fouled (say 5 or more shots since clean) barrel. Even better, is to confirm point of impact with a completely cool barrel and ammo, at the same temperature you intend to hunt at.
