great content as always. But aren't a lot of these shots inside step shots? Or maybe I'm just confused about what an outside step shot is. Examples at these timestamps seem to be regular shots unless i'm misunderstanding :45 :57 1:14 1:48

Yes, I just put some common things I saw from the video in the title. There's more than just outside steps/high C's in it.

@@WrestlingRabbitHole Copy 🫡. The description of these different motions may be a good video. I've bene around the sport a long time and sometimes am confused by these actions myself

I don't know what I could comment about vito's dominance that wouldn't be obvious. He is more technical than everyone and faster than everyone and deceptively strong. healthy vito is the best in the world at 61kg for a reason. Hope he goes up to 65 for the next olympic cycle. 57 is too small for him.

Man I just don't get why wrestlers do not know how to defend that step over position. Watch any senior level wrestling. For the attacker, the hand on the ankle stays to keep the leg there, the other hand post to the mat which helps to build up. Once the chest is up, sit to your butt and the hands switch, so right hand comes to the ankle and left hand goes to the mat. From there rotate around to score the points. An example would be Ridge Lovett vs Cale Henson, semifinals NCAA this year. At he 49 sec mark of the second period Henson does this which creates a scramble situation as Lovett is forced to go Win Dixie.

This guy is definitely knowledgeable, sax's defensive style from what i've seen seems to be a hybrid of saitiev style defense paired with some techniques that seemingly resemble some bjj techniques

Dang very interesting video. I always felt ankles are gold in these positions. At 16:00 takats picks up the ankle like I thought the other guys should. Elevating that ankle while sax tries to sit was always frustrating from the sax side for me but this Gumby dude just sits all the way across the other dudes body onto the opposite ankle 😂 takats does eventually get sax off his base with it and sax has to pull the emergency roll (or at least it would be for me)

I wrestled exactly like this in high school!! So much fun wrestling funk. I loved the grinding pressure exploding into confounding transitions between positions (hopefully) leading to magic trick at the end. The roll at 12:30 is awesome! I never thought of doing that. 😮 I'm glad he treats the position 13:18 like he does. I loved that position but I feel like a lot of wrestlers get scared there because their hips are low and their base doesn't feel mobile so they want to get up, turn away or unhook the leg but if you keep the lock and the leg hooked you're golden from my experience because you can always banana split the guy or if he turns in just sit up. Great break down!
