Congrats on the 500k mark. What an achivement! I only just saw this video, KZfaq algorithm didn’t show it to me for 3 months. My feedback is I love the diversity and twists and changes over past years. It’s all interesting to me in different ways. My favourite KZfaqrs are accidental KZfaqrs - they’ve got in it to show their interests and grown from there. The fact that you are all interested in what you’ve created shows, so even when it’s not my perfect subject it is still interesting to me. I get energy from your interest. And you are always curious and questioning things, pondering why. I’m probably unusual in this approach to watching KZfaq but that’s one person’s viewpoint.

The company got started making electric UTVs in 2003under the Bad Boy name, before being purchased by Textron Inc. in 2010. and moi , the little dog trying to say different

Starting a company with no money and no product does not make you a founder. They did not even build a prototype before Musk brought in the money.

Same could be said of Bill Gates with Windows (DOS was someone else’s idea that Gates beat IBM to). And of Steve Jobs, the Apple operating system is modified Unix (though Jobs did make sure the Beos wasn’t used). Musk brought the energy, talent and money that was needed to drive Tesla forward as a successful company. Very unlikely under the “original founders”.

Obvious Elon was not the founder. I have heard him admit that several times. However, Martin was the core innovator and founder with a close friend Mark. All up they both are very happy with the work done by Elon Musk especially financially. They could have called the company M and M? But Mark chose Tesla. Elon Musk is the same as the builder of McDonald's and the story is in relevant terms the same.

I think the term co-founder is used very loosely. Elon is founder of SpaceX and early investor-founder for Tesla. Per JB he was definitely involved from the get go. From the early days of Tesla when Martin was CEO, he definitely ran the company almost bankrupt. While Elon kept putting his money in there. Eventually Martin was canned, and JB was part of that ouster. Elon took over as active CEO and Tesla is where it is.

If you have to ask who the good guy in a story is, maybe there isn't one. Clearly Mark and Eduardo are both world class a-holes. The difference is Mark never intentionally tried to torpedo the company out of spite the way Eduardo did when he cut off funding. Mark may have been greedy and no longer saw Eduardo's value or contribution to the company as much as he did in the beginning, but he was right. It's similar to the way Eduardo became a naturalized US Citizen when it benefitted him and summarily renounced it when it no longer served him. Mark went on to hire the right people to turn Facebook into the social media behemoth that it is today. All without Eduardo's involvement. Meanwhile, Eduardo is still reaping the benefits of Facebook's success and waiting for the next coattail to ride. Mark is the genius kid who found success and Eduardo is the rich kid who lucked out.
