I ran this vid through Handbrake. Upscaled to 1080p 30fps constant framerate. Detelecine: Default, Interlace Detection: Default, Deinterlace: Decomb Default, Denoise: NLMeans Light Preset no Tune, Chroma Smooth: Medium no Tune, Sharpen: LapSharp Medium no Tune, Deblock: Off, Colorspace: Off. 400mm is clean and sharp, and 800mm is still entirely useable. Chroma all gone. Good contrast and colors. Just lovely.

So I have a Vazen 40mm 1.8X. GH6 and GH5S + Atomos Ninja V. So what can I tell you guys. GH5S have 3.3K 422 10 Bit 24/25/30p on Card and 3.7K Raw on Recorder. If you take 3.3K on card, through HDMI output is not full screen VIEW. Its only 50% with this desqueeze. If you take 3.7K you have full screen View on Ninja. The same with gh6. BUT gh6 dont have 422 10bit. We have 420 10p on Card. And also non full screen view. If we want 60P on anamorphic mode we have to crop image...So Iam disappointed about this all.... Show less

Fantastic video, talks all about all nuts and bolts of each product without the frills of one brand over another. I'm certianly considering, which direction to take. I have old FD's that have been in the family for years, so they're pretty special to me. Always looking for a way to achieve the full frame video or stills with FD lenses, without the high price tag!.

Good try & production but sorry about your disappointment with this giant CA maker! I guess the best thing about this lens is its appearance. Performance is not a function of this one! But honestly and you can't compare a modern computer design affordable super telelens s.a. Sigma or Tamron 150-600mm with these old-world creations. But then and if you're to get really surprised, go try FD 300mm F2.8 (The L version or the earlier FLourinated black one). That one is a true jaw-dropping glass in every sense and way.

I’m the title you said 100-12,000 ISO but you started at 200. The reason I mention this, is I have to shoot an outdoor concert with 4 cameras. I want to set the ISO to 100.

I now own both and as much as i enjoy the 100-400 i don't know if i really needed it. I think my 100-300 is so sharp that i don't really notice a huge difference between the images. There is a weight difference that does tell on a long day. The 100-400 is better but most of the time if 300 isn't enough reach then 400 isn't really either. But yeah when 400 with a crop only just cuts it then you got an image you wouldn't otherwise have been happy with. I use both at different times but i could totally get by with the 300.

Thanks man. I was undecided between the two of these lenses, but I think this video decided it for me. The extra reach and sharpness are important to me, and I can (just about) afford the 100-400mm, so that's what I'll go for. Thanks!

I like this lens for the sharpness, large aperture, and low-light performance. And that rendering! I don’t like this lens for all the noise it makes - in S-AF it chatters like crazy, and the diaphragm (?) also seems to have a mind of its own in bright light, so more noise. If you’re thinking of upgrading to this lens from the Lumix 20mm f/1.7 in order to get better autofocus and an overall quieter experience, you’ll get about 60% there with this lens. The difference is it has the Leica name on it, and the overall usage doesn’t live up to the expectations set.
