If she sank in deep water, most aboard would never have even reached the weather decks before drowning in their cabins or below decks. Water would have rapidly flooded passenger areas, engineering spaces from above as well as though the breaches in the hull. Even worse those who jumped into the water would find water surging into the ship through windows, down stairwells, the funnel, ventilation and elevator shafts a deadly menace. When Titanic sank, scores of people in the water were sucked down into the ship and drowned. The funnels left 25-foot wide holes into which water swirled, pulling people all the way down into the boiler rooms. It would have been no different if Costa Concordia sank in deep water. I think also the ship would have broken apart if it took an extreme downward angle by the bow. Large open areas in the decks inside are where stresses converge, and cracks start radiating from. In fifteen seconds or less, they can break a ship into two or more pieces while on the surface or just below it.

A well done video (I don't know of any other 3D simulation that shows what's happening BELOW the surface). BUT, when you say she DIDN'T touch bottom before fully submerging, that is contradicted by EVERY account I've seen.

While I realise this is a simulation, simulations have done of various other sinkings, one in particular is Titanic. As most folks would know, there was apparently no boat drill done, on the day of sailing (a legal requirement these days), and the the crew has never practised lowering life boats. As we know Titanic sank by the bow, and as the stern rose, the increasing angle made launching life boats more & more difficult. I do believe that the guys on Myth Busters actually proved that even if Titanic had the required number of life boats, still there would have been fatalities, all of the life boats simply couldn't be launched owing to the angle of the sinking. The other thing that has occurred to me is that, to my knowledge, there's never seen a ship sinking to really prove how affective ship evacuation, and while it wasn't front of mine on my cruise in 2018, there were 4858 passengers onboard, spread over the ship, and then there's an alarm to evacuate the ship (NO THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN), on any given night, any emergency would be pandamoanium, I don't think there could be an affective and coordinated evacuation of one of these enormous ships...

What if the Titanic hit a rock in shallow water off the coast of a highly populated Italian island? Would Mr. Guggenheim and Captain Smith still have gone down with the ship, even if it just sank a little.

I appreciate what this video is trying to do, but from the viewing angle it just doesn't do justice as to how much bigger these ships are from each other. Also, it didn't need to show several ships from each class but instead compare maybe just the first ship from each class unless there is a major aesthetic difference.

She sank until 1 minute and 13 seconds. To make it more terrifically sink fast enough, the waves and the rain should be strong enough to plummet it down in the middle of the ocean, but guys don't get confused about it.

It is a coincidence that the ships related to the Titanic all had tragic endings, such as the Carpathia, which rescued the passengers of the Titanic, or its sister Britannic, which also sank in 1916.
