I'm looking at a sickle mower like this one for my A. Does it use the power trol system?

My dad and grandad had a couple of these, I ended up using one later in life behind a four bottom breaking plow on some heavy clay type soil, the packer I was using prior to that kept balling up with dirt.

not going to do much better than what you see. If your ground is not already soft its not going to dig. it is more for aeration.

Finish mower, not brush hog, 2 completely different implements.
@JamesLHowell2 жыл бұрын
Agree. A bush hog, also known as a rotary cutter, is not a finishing mower. However, Bush Hog is the manufacturer of the ATH 600 finishing mower.
@ronaldayers666110 ай бұрын
Yeah... Bushhog is a brand name. But it is so popular that most people call a rough cut mower a bushhog.. kinda like Jacuzzi was the first hot tub manufacturer but everyone tends to call them Jacuzzis. Even though they are all just hot tubs. 😉 Little knowledge for you.
Nice tractor. Song is no good, Rascal Flats is a pop group that could not make it in pop. So unfortunately I have to change stations when they come on.

@JamesLHowell3 жыл бұрын
The M has 20hp at the PTO.
@maximus-23073 жыл бұрын
no need for disengaging PTO when you open the baler gate it would engage clutch inside a baler and stop bale from working until you close the gate again
@JamesLHowell3 жыл бұрын
This baler was not designed to run the chain drive with the tail gate open.
@maximus-23073 жыл бұрын
@@JamesLHowell I know, but when you open the gate baler turn of transmission by itself, I have an older model of 125 and it does that. That is my point. PTO can run but when you open the gate baller stops chains and when you close it starts again. try it, no need to stop after every bale. Maybe your model doesn't have that and I am wrong

@fourfortyroadrunner67014 жыл бұрын
This is not how these are "done." You lock the thing down with the large "D" pedal, then let that up and stomp on the small circular pedal to dump. That pedal engages a mechanical pawl system in the wheels. I was so young and little the first year or two I had to ride one of these, I had a stick on a rope, stuck the stick into the "D" pedal and my foot up higher on the stick to create enough leverage. I don't know, 12? or so so around 1958--60 Dad did not have a baler until after I joined the Navy in 68. He did get a side delivery and we used a mechanical loader behind the trailer.

Corsicana rotary cutter attached for mowing the perimeter of several of our hay fields. Did not get much use this last summer. It has always been a very dependable tractor.

The Model 70 John Deere is a 50 horsepower tractor. The tractor in this video is a very early 1953 model, that we call "15", because it was the 15th tractor built. Of our five Model 70 tractors, "15" is the strongest puller.

A rotary hoe can be used to cultivate the top soil for weeds and breaking up previously tilled ground. It is not designed to work as a typical field cultivator or disc. The field in the video has be tilled with a field cultivator and then tilled with a disc. The rotary hoe is being used to break up dirt clods from the disc. Hope this helps.

Glad that you enjoyed the video. We name all of our tractors so that we can tell them apart when talking about them. Bought this tractor from a young man in Arkansas whose uncle originally owned the tractor. Asked him what his uncle's name was and he replied "Earl". Started "Uncle Earl" for the first time this year three days ago and drove around the farm. The tractor is now 80 years old and still runs just fine.
