Re Thea Proctor's use of mauve/purple in her costumes: see Regina Blaszczyk, The Color Revolution, which has an entire chapter on the Victorian use of the color mauve. Queen Victoria's wedding gown was mauve, which caused a fashion fad throughout the English-speaking world for mauve. NOT anything to do with being queer!

Lovely clear demo ... if you use nori paste that would keep the paints open a bit longer perhaps? I have been experimenting with water colours and japanese woodblock printing.

Nice video! I ran offset presses for 40 years. The ink company should be able to supply you with round sheets to cover the ink after you skin it. It’s the only way to go. Saves time and product. Or you can always put the can on a sheet of paper and trace a circle and cut it out to place over the fresh ink.

Hi and thank you for a great presentation! I live on Cape Cod and go to PTown regularly to admire the art. When I moved here I started to learn about the history of the artists and the colonies here and of course eventually I came across the white line printmaking movement. I am learning printmaking myself via the Japanese tradition. but the white line really has me intrigued. This was a very informative presentation please tell the Brittany presenter thanks!

Slice, punch, and step on them bro and not on yo front lawn, geez. If you take care of it when you empty the box (15-20 seconds?) you won’t have a stack in the garage. Or yard, in some cases.

Hi! We are not able to get the Delivery Table to release from the Feed table. We are not able to lower the delivery table without moving the feed table. When we rotate the wheel on the right, it just moves both tables. Is there a release? Thank you!

Thank you! Now I have a more expansive appreciation of this artist's work. Previously my view was that only his basically green landscapes were lovely. Now I see clearly that the woodcuts are equally beautiful. The print portfolio presented here is wonderful.

Thanks! I've wanted to try this technique for a long time. One question - which Krylon spray did you suggest if I wanted to seal the plate? There was a little glare on the can and I couldn't make it out.

As a matter of fact I am (was, retired now) As a qualified practical trainer, I was part of the examination board in Amsterdam of the Graphic Training Centre for many years. As I said, I completely agree with your earlier statement. However, the presenter of the video made a different choice and I understand where he is coming from. Personally, I think it would take a lot of time to explain the registered way of printing and would be difficult for most viewers to understand.

@@RobertKlok cool I started in letterpress many makes and models. Then offset from Rolland miller planita komori Heidelberg cx102 was last offset now doing foil embossing die cut more interesting than loading plates and button pushing. I don't know what's going to happen to the industry when all the knowledge is gone. No one trained for that any more.

@@jamestanner9198 how nice, exactly the same route for me but left the trade when I turned 40 and took the opportunity to continue to work in ICT. I think new machines will be developed for each discipline, and yes our breed will become extinct rather soon. Though, I am still happy to see videos like this and to know there are people out there still willing to pick up the trade as artists

That is a old pms book. You did not show how to put the Packing on correctly using the gauge ? Underlay needs to be done so the proper make ready , cut out the high spots so the image does not punch the paper. The correct pressure is just kiss the surface of the stock. Make ready done under the oiled manilla top sheet.
@jasonstahl1327
@jasonstahl1327 7 ай бұрын
Makeready is very important, but to say there is only one correct pressure is not valid in this day and age. When letterpress did everything from newspapers to books to business forms, you did not want to see the impression on the back distorting that sides text. But letterpress is now a niche market and deep impression is an artistic choice (depending on how much wear you are willing to accept on your type). It’s just as valid as kiss impression.
