It's about supply and demand. When you have fitted into a niche you fit and suddenly the small pool of workers becomes a Lake then yes he can say that.

I do this as a second job in Australia. It gives me a reason to go outside meet new people which I like, but I would never do it as a full timer. That would work out to be too many long hour days and stress! We don't have a tipping culture here either, but one out of every 10-15 deliveries will tip a few dollars here or there which is awesome.

Sounds similar to my situation, interesting to hear that tipping in Australia is similar to here

More corporate based or medical based jobs are more likely to hire a non white person because they want to be "diverse" and not based on merit. It's very common in university admissions. Pathetic tbh. I'm saying this as a black person living and working in London.

Endless fetch quests. I've not got uber radar here but have seen it once while I was working in Scarborough for a bit. I thought it was supposed to offer more than one order though.

Even on days when ive made 6 quid an hour,ive still enjoyed it. I do it for a few "beer tokens" a week and just enjoy riding around my seaside town (torquay) seeing places and people.

Hi mate, just found this channel today along with a lot of other channels in this style, I'm currently on UC with the job market being awful as it is especially for someone like me just in early 20's and recently let go from first job. Applied for Uber and looking around for a bike to do it on, do you think it's a good Job for people on Benefits like UC who can only just afford rent, wifi and food while looking for a job. Hoping to put money away every month and get a proper E-bike or an E-moped instead of an actual pedal bike, fingers crossed.
@Sheffielddelivers
@Sheffielddelivers 16 күн бұрын
I think it can be, doing it on a bike can be tiring and you will be limited to shorter orders so start with that and then try and get an ebike as quickly as you can or buy a converter kit to change your bike into one

To be honest I don't think the market is saturated, certainly not in Sheffield, and many people are doing this as a second job, talked to many other riders who do this to supplement their income.

Americans hate expected tipping as well. It's disgusting how many laws are in place that allows companies to pay their employees so poorly they rely on tips to get a decent paycheck. I was born and raised in the US and I hate it, never understood it, and even relied on it in the past which probably made me hate it more. You are not alone, cousin.
@angelaburrow8114
@angelaburrow8114 18 күн бұрын
The difference is that, by law, all delivery drivers in UK have to be paid a specified minimum wage, without tips being counted. They don't rely on tips, unlike the US. It's appalling that American companies can get away without paying a decent salary to their employees & customers have to foot the bill. The entire tipping culture in the US is screwed up, with customers & employees losing out & companies not fulfilling their obligations.

i will NEVER understand tipping culture... i am from the uk but lived in the states for a couple years. if the US food chains/ delivery chains pay their workers more they wouldnt have to feel entitled for tips. i had a run in with someone who said about tips with i was in the us. i normally tipped with cash but this person threw my food at my door and said that was because of no tip. i then said i tip in cash and he instantly came back to the door. i said after the stunt you pulled just lost your tip and im reporting you to UberEats.

As a pizza guy in the us majority of the pizza chains especially dominos does a thing called split wage which means that you make half your normal rate when on the road so no tip sometimes means youve been paid less than minimum wage for that hour

If you want to make more money get shifts with a busy takeaway rather than using the apps. Many customers for takeaways pay cash at the door, so you get a lot more tips plus you see the same customers all the time so you get to know them.
@Sheffielddelivers
@Sheffielddelivers 22 күн бұрын
Yeah I've thought about that, the only issue for me is that I can't really commit to regular shifts, so unless they have the same flexibility as Uber Eats and Deliveroo, I think I might be stuck with them 🙁
@Iain1962
@Iain1962 14 күн бұрын
@@Sheffielddelivers Well ask around, offer to cover maybe, so if one of their regular drivers is sick or can't work a shift they will need someone for one off cover for an evening, over time you can be their go to guy when they need extra help, and they won't hold it against you if you are unavailable, lots of places have reserve drivers as back ups, people have flat tyres or breakdowns so they need to be flexible. Then see what develops...

I don't have an issue with swiping collected or showing someone as I swipe collected but after you do this it brings up delivery and customer specific information that restaurant staff should not see. Obviously, there is a lack of trust.

I find my range is 35-45 miles before I get to 20%. I did 54 miles the other day starting at 97%, ending at 12%, but it went into limp mode for the 1st time at 15% just before a fairly busy roundabout, which I wasn't impressed with. As we can't use it legally on cycle paths in the UK, it essentially has a 85% usable range 42-51 miles.
@Sheffielddelivers
@Sheffielddelivers 2 ай бұрын
I've never really tested the range fully, the lowest I've gone down to is about 25%, never wanted to test the limp home mode 😆. What bike do you have?
@mjr2567
@mjr2567 2 ай бұрын
@Rider51_001 same bike Niu Nqi GTS Pro. I'd thought I'd get an Evo but when I went to test ride the two bikes I found this one fast enough for what I need. The only reason I did 54 miles was I had to travel 84 miles and gave up trying to find places interested in letting me top up the charge. There was supposed to be another charge point at a caravan site/café but their 3-pin outlet was broken... didn't even offer to let me use an electric hookup or indoor outlet.
