I love the way you put everything into words. I saw thousands of pictures on Pinterest to get some inspo but I needed somebody to say the names that are not to obvious to me as I'm not visual when it comes to details. Big thanks!

I don’t know if it would still be considered coastal but if you are like me and don’t always like a lot of white everywhere you can actually find some pretty nice “industrial” furniture pieces that complement a beachy room or trade the white wall paint for a light tan. At least that’s what I did when designing my bedroom. I also have a black metal “farmhouse” like bed frame which works well.

I'm making a work-wreath to bring lunar new year into the office. I'm reshaping a grape vine wreath into the trunk of a cherry tree. Then, I'm adding silk flowers and pink and red beads for the draping cherry blossoms. Finally, I've repurposed some plain Christmas ornaments and painted them to look like new year lanterns.

currently a freshman architecture student and my most hated thing about floorplans is measuring out the rooms then remembering you have to add the thickness of the walls, which in turn makes the room shrink a little... (i haven't heard anything about how to fix it:[ )

I was wondering if you might have suggestions on how to combine elements of different styles. For example, I currently live with my parents and have a very beachy room but have been looking into both Cottagecore and Dark Cottagecore stuff lately and was hoping to find some ideas on combining the furniture I have (which isn’t overly themely except for some knick knack pieces). I will also admit that while I don’t have an apartment right now, because I am searching for full time work, I am hoping to eventually get an apartment but if I do, I don’t know if I will likely have parts I have to keep/work around. I will admit that I also would love any suggestions on creating a more masculine cottage core. I am currently leaning towards Dark Cottage Core because traditional cottage core is a bit too feminine for me and Dark Cottage core feels more neutral if not masculine

Not sure of your water situation but I would highly recommend a power washer or two. Get a petrol operated one, more powerful. That would have definitely helped you clean up the bench but also any concrete walkways or walls. Or…try Wet&Forget! Love the colour you chose 👍🏼

I Know, I should mind my own business, but I dont like the bench. It's not D&B. Not your style . Too big too heavy and not matching the future japan style vision. But I m sure you can be creative with that, and shape it down to your design, or something more organic. Hugs from Italy, 35°Celsius here.

Hi Jacqueline, May I suggest that you invest in a pressure cleaner. You will need to clean the cement every year to keep it looking good. and it's back breaking work. After getting recommendations from neighbours I went with a pressure cleaner from aldi. Much cheaper than brand names from hardware stores. One of my best ever purchases as I can use it on any surface. Tiles, cement, pathways, gutters and even the exterior cladding on my house. Everything comes up like brand new. You'd be able to pressure clean the wall behind you in the video. It's amazing. Love how the seating area came up. Looks 100% better. Edit to add that a pressure cleaner would also take off most of the peeling paint from the seating area too.

Oh Aldi? Thanks so much for that suggestion, I'll keep a look out there. Thank you so much for your kind words too Sylvain 💙🙏 We will keep adding to the patio area and will also do a deep clean more often. After the winter the garden looks like a wreck🤣 it took us weeks to get it back to looking relatively normal 🤣

Thank you so much Dear! 💟 The wall is very strange. At the end of the house its very high (taller than us) but as it goes towards the bench it gets shorter and shorter (as we are on a slight upwards slope), meaning we see into our neighbours house / patio- which... Is not the best 🤣 without being mean about our neighbours, but we must cover up the gap for more privacy. I think bamboo will do the job 😅

Just to cheer Dantier and Balogh up regarding the weather in Scotland. Where I am, every single day's high temperature in July was between 42C and 47C, and so far this month, every single high temperaure has been between 38C and 116C. We did get 45 minutes of light rain, however... once. My two bougainvilleas, which I planted several months ago, are struggling like crazy, the homeless are dropping dead, and everyone else is about to strangle someone. Oh, what we wouldn't do for a fine bit of Scottish weather! P.S. The seating area looks great. You have a beautiful garden, and it will only get better!

Ok ok maybe I won't whine about the weather too much😅😅 Wow your temps are crazy!☀️☀️ I can imagine it's very difficult to sustain a garden and flowers etc in that kind of heat. I do wonder which country in the world has the best weather? Where is the most ideal place/ climate to live in? I feel like none of us can win😅 I always liked the idea of tropical like Florida, but they get the Hurricanes!!! I don't know...when you find out tell me🤣 Thanks for your kind words too Tim!!!! 🙏🙏

@@dantierandbalogh I do feel for you, though! I think the secret of good weather is a nice mix of temps and precipitation that aren't too extreme and keep things interesting. I have had an email British friend in Hetton-le-hole for over 15 years, and he spends his winters in absolute misery, but he tries to break them up with little trips to the Canaries. I've experienced a few long Chicago and Montreal winters, far more very long Phoenix summers (always at least six months, despite what the city's tourism advertising says), and one year of Irish weather. I don't know where the most ideal climate is, but I know that more moderate climates in the US are either very expensive places on the west coast or less expensive places on the east coast (less expensive for a reason: too many brain-dead, flag-waving, bible-thumping, nosey neighbors). I asked Google which city in the world has a climate closest to that of Phoenix. The answer was Baghdad (that tells you something). Here in Phoenix, some people have green thumbs based on trial and error. Others are rich and have professionals take care of their plants and lawns. But I am economically poor according to some charts, have no irrigation system, and my plantable area is only the size of my compact car (literally) and gets full sun in the long summers. I do have a patio, but it is completely covered and gets NO sun - EVER. I could grow any number of succulents, particularly cacti - but I just don't like them. Cacti are about as charming as a moss-covered rock and are as prickly as a porcupine. If my bougainvilleas don't make it, there is another plant that I had luck with many years ago - a big feathery thing with orange flowers. By the way, I LOVE your videos. They're so much more encouraging, insprirational, and informative than news programs! Okay, I know you're busy! No need to reply unless you want to! Thanks again!

William Morris has the best wallpaper pints that are old, interesting and can give a witchy vibe, I think she showed some of the prints in here, my phone case is William Morris. My apartment has that Country, Gothic Victorian, Witchy feel, you can make your new space look old if you study what would be used, use more antique elements or newer pieces that look antique, just stay away from badly done dorky modern antique elements that make it look cheap, go for more natural woods, not press board, like the bone white and beige IKEA specials, curves, lines, color, eclectic and maximal will give you that Victorian or Witchy vibe, lots of dried flowers, herbs, things like that help. Biggest thing like I said before, study the time period, see what they would have worn, used, it makes all the difference, because yes you could just like the looks of it, but with background knowledge, if people ask you at least know about it and may really honestly grow to love it, not because it is just pretty, me personally, I learn about time periods because I love it, so when people ask me they learn something and they may want to learn about it to keep history alive and much better than going "IDK, I just thought it was pretty" I mean yes I get that, but being real and knowing what it is, is so much better.

I always tried finding my 'style' and I always liked cottagecore, but like you said, with a darker edge. Kind of like a witch in the woods vibe, with frogs, mushrooms, and mist like I'm a cryptid in the forest tending to a garden. XD So this is perfect for me, get both the humble vibes of baking bread and hugging a kitten, but also with the darker mysterious almost horror edge to it. Let's me blend the two dualities I thought wouldn't mix.

Thank you, this was fascinating to me! I love art and history. I've always questioned why so many portraits seem to have the same face in 1500-1700s (?) even in the same painting from the parents down to all of the children - just smaller versions. This is like our modern cut & paste to me and not original. They hair may be different, but it's the same face. Am I the only one who thinks that way?
