I think it’s nuts that anyone would hold it against a child because their parents are famous we all have to deal with the same things growing up

I can see what he means being a drummer. I did it professionally for a long time and I know what he means. He's just talking in the perspective of his career being separate from his dad. He gets all the perks sure But remember he doesn't want to be associated with his father's music or his father's legacy on a guitar. He's trying to build something that's completely his own, that has nothing to do with the band van halen. Plus I'm sure there's a certain level.Of expectation people expect from him. Plus I see people getting constantly aggravated that he doesn't want to play his dad's music. Just look at it that way.

My dad played guitar for himself… if he was playing and I happen to bring friends home with me…I’d lose them to him playing for them… My guitar hero for sure…

Wolf won the gene pool lottery. Nothing to explain to most people. However what he did with the win is what’s quite remarkable. For every gene pool winner there’s many that don’t know how to take advantage of it.

I'm pretty sure he didn't say getting his initial opportunity and break was a hindrance but I get what he's saying. No matter what he does for the rest of his life, success or failure, he will always be compared to his old man and likely hated for it.

I loved the character that your mom played on One day at a time, and also the part that your dad played in Van Halen. Just be Wolfgang, that's who you are. I'm a fan, but I don't know ya ;)

Look it’s probably both. The perks are obvious to everyone but there are probably downfalls to it that only people in that situation understand. He seems like a nice guy and his music is good let’s just enjoy it.

I was appalled when they canned Michael Anthony and Wolfgang could not wait to take a legends place. Michael Anthony was playing for Mammoth and Van Halen before Wolfgang was a dirty thought, before his father met his mother. I will never buy a Wolfgang album or buy one of his tickets. He is riding on his father’s coattails. I would have respect for him if he came up with his own band name, and if he refused to replace Michael Anthony. Wolfgang is bad news. He is no good!

Mr.Wolf, I'm a weekend player. I saw you with Kool & the gang in D.C. 2O11(?). You all were great. You and your father had a beautiful thing. It doesn't just happen in music. It doesn't happen as often as it should. You're awesome, you're not spoiled, just gifted. A thread runs thru all music and most families. Just need to open your heart, mind and ears. Alright, dude gimme 20 'eruption' solos in a row now.😊👍🎵🐬🎸

I hear a lot of pain in there though, it sounds as though he took a lot of shit over the years from people who were really jealous that his parents were so famous. I mean let's face it having Eddie Van Halen for a dad is a hell of a pedigree and a lot of people are really toxic and would be inclined to say some pretty shitty things to him over the years I have no doubt. Putting up with that must have been really tough for him. Finding his own voice through all of that was a remarkable feat. I have nothing but immense respect for his talent and artistry. He is in my view one of the most remarkable artists to emerge in the last 5 years let alone the last 10. I think it's people like him and Greta Van Fleet that are going to save rock and roll.
