My Honda cuts best at 3.5 and lower. Your test at 4 was very good, that was a bunch of grass...!
@shoptalkwithbrett6572Ай бұрын
Ever since I took down the shrubs, I started cutting at 4” front and back. I am more vigilant at keeping the front yard cut more since it’s what’s seen from the street. I alternate between the Honda and the toro each time I mow.

Honda quit making walk behind mowers in September 2023 in the United States. Right now what you see is their remaining inventory but once that’s gone, no more from what I gather.

I recently purchased two of the same units you just reviewed, also purchased on Amazon. The first lasted only about two hours before it locked up and wouldn't rotate. Thinking it was a fluke, I ordered another for overnight delivery as I needed to get my cleanup done over the weekend. Before I relate what happened with the second unit I ordered I will mention the first had a solid brass body under the rubber cover and a .040 orifice size. Amazon describes it as having a .030 orifice size. I received the second nozzle and this one was feather light as this one was made out of aluminum anodized to look like brass. This one had an .030 orifice size as described. This one only lasted less than an hour before locking up. I'm using a Dewalt 3400 PSI machine with a strainer and filter so Im confident its not any particulate matter in the water. Unfortunately Simpson appears to be sourcing these from multiple manufacturers using different specs and packaging them as the same unit. The only thing common to both nozzles I purchased was they fail prematurely. Your video was just fine but you just didn't put it to the test of a couple hours of use. Both of the units I bought worked fantastic until they didn't...

I bought a Honda hrx217hya with the 200 engine. Kinda pissed since it takes 3-4 pulls to always start. I had the overhead valve leak and the speed was too slow when I first got it. Never had issues with Hondas before until this machine

What octane fuel? I think this should run on regular but on the tray it says "Premium Gas Pressure Washer" with the words premium and gas in red letters suggesting they go together whereas it could mean this is a premium quality gas pressure washer. I have one ordered so I'm wondering. I already agree that the 25' hose is too short and they don't sell the 5/16" braided Monster hose, only the stiffer and heavier 3/8" version.
@shoptalkwithbrett65723 ай бұрын
They mean premium quality pressure washer because the Honda GX series engine is commercial grade as is the Cat pump. As for fuel, I run 93 octane in all my outdoor equipment with a good fuel treatment.

"Centriffical Switch" ? What do those do. I hear that "click" on some of the bench grinders we have. Dayton is good stuff. Not sure but I don't believe they are in business any longer or if they are, they are run by another company? I have one of their office desk fans 12" oscillating. It's used at least 5 time a week all day/night and continues to work perfectly since about 1976.
@shoptalkwithbrett65723 ай бұрын
That centrifugal switch is used to switch the starting windings off once the motor reaches a specific RPM. There are two sets of windings on this style of motor. Starting and running windings. At startup, both the starting and running windings are in play. Once the motor reaches a specific speed, a spring loaded set of centrifugal weights move outward and act on a set of contacts that control the starting windings this turning them off and just the running windings are in play. When the motor is turned off, and the motor slows down to a specific speed, the spring loaded weights retract thus closing the set of contacts that control the starting windings so when the motor is turned back on both sets of windings are in play for starting.

The turbo isn't even close to the regular one...thanks for the heads up. I won't buy the turbo
@shoptalkwithbrett65723 ай бұрын
That isn’t the best turbo out there. Plus, that was my first time trying one. I’ve used it several times since this video was made and learned a few tricks to make it more effective. That being said, it’s not the best turbo nozzle out there but not bad for the price point. I mostly use my 15° tip depending on what I’m cleaning. But the turbo nozzle does quite well for edging concrete before using the surface cleaner. And it works great for cleaning under a nasty mower deck. I used it in a later video on a sidewalk and driveway cleaning video and it did quite well over I got used to the proper technique.

Is there a pressure adjustment on the pump?
@shoptalkwithbrett65723 ай бұрын
On this one, no but if I want less pressure I can throttle the engine back since it’s not a set Governor.

Just got to be careful when cleaning these carbs off lawn and garden equipment. Especially the smaller 2 cycle carbs. Many have tiny check valves in them that are inaccessible, and they are made of a material like mylar. If you use the wrong chemical or excessive heat in the tank you will damage the check valve(s) and then the carb will no longer run properly.
@shoptalkwithbrett65723 ай бұрын
You got a good point. As far as the little 2 cycle carbs I don’t really mess with those to start with. For what it costs for a carb kit and the labor involved it’s just as expensive for me to just replace the carb. That way everything is new to start with.
@philliphall51983 ай бұрын
Dawn dish soap and 100 degrees seems to be safe 😊
@steadyeddie74533 ай бұрын
@@shoptalkwithbrett6572 I'll still enjoy rebuilding the tiny 2 cycle carbs. The kits run ~ 15 bucks, and with my labor it's cheaper than buying an OEM carb.
@steadyeddie74533 ай бұрын
@@philliphall5198 Good to know. I will try it. I also will sometimes soda blast the carb for a like new look and nice finish. Literally takes ~2 minutes. The soda completely washes away unlike sandblasting.
@shoptalkwithbrett65723 ай бұрын
One of the reasons also that I don’t rebuild those mini 2 cycle carbs is I lost all the vision in my right eye and have limited vision in my left. Thus, I quit taking in any handheld equipment and pretty much just do mowers.

Hit the carb body and most parts with a thin coat of WD40 immediately after cleaning and drying. You'll notice a good difference in results and 'preserves' it until installed and used.

You are gonna love that US cleaner Brett!! I had not seen the Simple Green Aircraft Cleaner. I did use the Simple Green Pro, that also doesn't turn carbs gray, but it may not work quite as well as that stuff you used. I'mma get some of that and try it. I have a 4-wheeler carb needs cleaning coming up shortly.
