Amazing sound 👌 I'm looking into getting the EV Ext 15p. Have you tested these with lifting and carting around? How do you find lugging your 35p around? Are they heavy to lift on the poles?
@DJRachelLynch
@DJRachelLynch 7 күн бұрын
Thanks! It’s a great speaker! I love them! They’re exactly how you think they’d be to move around a 95lbs speaker. 😂 LOL All jokes aside it’s a very loud and clean speaker, but I only use them when absolutely necessary. They are a hassle to move around (at least for me). But if you need something for large events, these are the ticket!

Haha! Oh definitely! 😆 Can you lift them yourself on the pole? The EV Etx 15p is 59lbs I'm not sure how I will be lifting them on my own to a pole. Have you looked into the 15p?

How much weight or stress can be put on the EV pole adding all these shelves with hardware on them? What does the manufacturer of the EV Speaker say about put all that stress on the pole?
@DJRachelLynch
@DJRachelLynch 10 күн бұрын
People attach entire Chauvet gig bars to these things so this isn’t even close to the same weight. It’s obviously not recommended by the manufacturer but the self is basically weightless. The heaviest thing is the iPad.

Hi Rachel, like all the remarks on your youtube tutorial its great, i have been fighting to choose between 2 x Everse 12s or 2 x Bose S1 Pro plus the only thing i have discovered is you can not link 2 wirless speakers with vocals and backing tracks so i have looked into it and Bose have a connection lead to over come this, i just trying to decide as it reduces my set up enormously I am a solo Tribute Artist many thanks.

Unpopular opinion: The best way to handle stuff like this, is for the most part not to care. Stress sucks. If asked to turn the music down, turn it down as they stand with you and let them tell you when to stop. Then leave the volume at that point and if the couple or guests complain, direct them to the venue manager. This way, if they bother you again it can be thrown back as you are doing as instructed. Word will get out that the venue is not party friendly through reviews and they will suffer. But this is a great vid with lots of food for thought.
@DJRachelLynch

Thanks for checking this out! I appreciate your time and comment! Personally, I’d never want to bother the couple with this and pass this on to them. I’m there to handle the "issues" if possible. I don't plan on returning to the venue, so I have no problem if they "ban me" or don't like me. They were unreasonable and rude. I was paid to show everyone a good time and I did. My couples come first, always. Moving forward, in any planning meetings I have with couples, I ask them if they are aware of any sound restrictions. If they are not, I suggest they check with the venue. I also do not recommend this venue to anyone. Like you said, it's the only way to combat venues like this that take people's money and aren't transparent about their sound restrictions. It's frustrating...

If I want to create an edit which plays while I'm dancing in the middle of the floor - with no one at a DJ booth to do a live mix - does VDJ have a way to do that? Although ideally I would be able to mix on the fly, I'm mostly a dancer and dance teacher, so I edit music in advance and export the edits as mp3s. The POI editor feels terribly awkward for that purpose. I'm better off using something like Magix Vegas (a video editor - but only using audio tracks). (I use it because I have access to it and I'm familiar with it.) Does VDJ have a way to do what I need without using the POI editor? For example, I want to cut out two sections from the middle of a song, and I want the whole song to play at 95% speed (and it's not preceded by a song with a bpm around 95%; in fact it's not preceded by anything). I might also want to overlay a clip from another track. I have a Deezer subscription and many Deezer playlists, so I want to use VDJ if possible for this. Can VDJ do what I need (as stated above)?
@DJRachelLynch
@DJRachelLynch 18 күн бұрын
For what you’re describing I’d recommend using the VDJ app which will let you mix and change things remotely (away from your laptop). Or use the auto mix feature you can customize how and when it mixes.

I plan on using it with my AMT Mic Reciever. The outer diameter for the dc cable is the same (5,5mm), though the inner diameter on mine is 2,1mm while the Everse cable is 2,65mm. Will is still power my reciever? :/

CTA 2024 = How Rachel Got Her Groove Back! 😁 Appreciate your vulnerability at the end in sharing a feeling that ALL of us who do this any length of time will feel. 🙃 You "Fake It 'Til You (re)Make It"! 😉 And YEEEEESSSSSS! 💯 I coach my couples all the time that they don't need 5 hours of dancing after all of the formal activities are over. I try to impress on them the psychology of ending at that 2-hour (or so) dance mark where the energy is high, and your nearly full dance floor is BEGGING you for "One more song"!! Everyone will remember that their wedding was a "Rager" that no one wanted to end...as opposed to 2.5 hours in, everyone's exhausted (it's been a long day) and filter out. Not only do they insist on saying goodby to the B&G (which stops them from dancing), but all of a sudden there's a 1/4 of the guest list left. You have to pull everyone together for last dance and it feels like the party fizzled and was a dud. 🤷‍♂#MyTwoCents. Kill your wedding next weekend😃

I would not be impressed if they tried to stuff me in their little corner and then put all those bags on my booth. I would flat out refuse. Moving a table around is a much smaller sacrifice to having the DJ in a bad position for the entire evening. Poor planning by the venue.
@DJRachelLynch

Being a difficult DJ is a great way to damage relationships, not get on a vendor's preferred list, receive bad reviews, and destroy your reputation. I will never make my clients think of me as someone who is arrogant and difficult to work with. My job as a professional is to get the job done with the tools, technology, and resources I have at my disposal. As long as what they are asking me to do is not dangerous or damaging to me or my equipment, I am happy to be accommodating. I did "refuse" to be placed where they originally wanted me. Common sense always wins, and sometimes just putting in a little effort and flexibility can go a long way. I made it work for everyone. How did those award bags affect me in any way? They didn't. How did being in the corner affect me in any way (other than having to run a slightly longer cable)? It didn't. What are you flat out refusing, and why? They were happy. The dance floor rocked. That's a win-win. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to make a fuss about stuff that we think matters more than it really does.
@theweddingspinner7340
@theweddingspinner7340 26 күн бұрын
@@DJRachelLynch it’s the venue I would be annoyed with not the party bookers. I generally bend over backwards to accommodate. But this isn’t a wedding. And stuffing the DJ in a corner and then piling loads of bags onto their booth is belittling of what service the DJ supplies. If they had booked a stand up comedian, or even a band. Do you think they would have been stuffed in the corner. And then bags put all over their stuff… absolutely no way. Society devalues what DJs do and saying yes and ok to everything devalues the DJs worth. Yes you accommodate as you move along but there has to be a limit. You can’t just say yes to everything. I’m far from a difficult DJ. I just value my position of what we bring to an event. If everyone wanted to hang their coats from your booth would you have been ok with that. ?
@DJRachelLynch
@DJRachelLynch 26 күн бұрын
@@theweddingspinner7340 If they had booked a band, they would have been in big trouble. There simply was no room for anything beyond what was shown in my gig log. If I had brought extra lighting, it would have stayed in the car; that's how little room there was. It was one of those instances where you need to work with what you've got and be the superhero. It wasn't the venue's fault that the client booked a venue too small for their guest count. They were extremely respectful and helpful in making sure I could execute my plan B. I don’t blame the venue at all. They were wonderful. The client chose to put the award table there to accommodate people walking up to grab their awards and to have a view of the room from that location without having their backs to anyone. They asked if it was okay, and I said certainly because it has zero impact on my performance. I can DJ and MC just as well with or without bags by my booth. Being flexible solidified my value because my attitude and streamlined setup got them out of a pinch and made for a great night. I'm not saying we shouldn't fight for ourselves when we are being displaced for a cake, but this wasn't one of those circumstances. 🙂
