I’ve got an original Mk1 Scout in 308 Win. Love it. Trigger is super light and crisp. Mine came with 10 round mags and mag well extension, which fulfills Cooper’s original ethos of being able to carry 20 rounds. Check in front of spare mag well; there should be a cubbyhole accessible from a latch in the mag well itself. Perfect for a boresnake. Original butter knife bolt handle is nicer than current ball, as it fits flush to the side of the rifle. T8 reflex moderator was made for the Scout, so worth sourcing if you want rifle to remain compact. Mine is 20 years old and still good (despite claims that they rot out; usually due to lack of maintenance).

Interesting results. I did find in all 3 of my FX guns, 500mm & 700mm barrels (.22sub & .22/.25 FAC) they don't like Zan slugs in general. With the exception of the .25 37grain which is one hole at 50m. Slugs by H&N are the opposite in all my FX, I think the softer H&N lead compound suits these barrels.

Not so much the looks for me, but the low capacity mag means it can’t be used effectively in mini-rifle competitions, I imagine the largest market in the U.K. for .22LR semi-autos. Early reviews on other channels stated that CZ planned to release a higher capacity mag, but I have just asked both CZ EU and the U.K. importer Sportsman Gun Centre and both said there were no plans to produce a higher capacity magazine. Pity as it looks like fantastic rifle, but I shall now be looking a the Striborg as a 10 round mag is a non-starter.

A 16" barrel , and shorter sturdier bipod legs, would be more like it .
@ExploretheMallee3 күн бұрын
I really like the spare mag holder and the lock down bolt. The bipod legs look a bit flimsy, do they feel robust? I'm not that keen on them tbh, and too high to be practical for my shooting. I'm looking forward to your review 👍
@michaelguerin56Күн бұрын
The true utility of the Steyr Scout bipod is on par with the original M16 bipod-typically carried in a belt pouch. It allows you to put the rifle down without laying it on its side on damp grass, mud, dirt or gravel. The Scout bipod allows you to keep the rifle clean/unscarred and your scope lenses dry! Some NZ Army personnel used the M16 bipod with their SLR L1A1 rifles. I know this because I was there. One idiot here in Wellington, NZ wasted a lot of a commercial reloader’s time by doing his ‘accuracy’ testing with the Steyr Scout bipod deployed🧐. Enough said😂!

If I were a squirrel I would much rather be shot at by those slugs. They are simply not made to be shot at low power. I can’t even get slugs to group out of my 40 fpe Dreamline traveling at about 840 fps.

What is your opinion? I received two different opinions on this question. If you have the STX Superior liner one person told me that you can shoot only 22 caliber slugs with it if you're going to shoot 25 caliber or 30 caliber then you need to upgrade to the heavy liner but somebody else told me that you can still use this liner with 25 or 30 caliber slugs. I suspect it's ideal in both cases to purchase the slug power kit with tungsten hammer?

Great video. I've always said slugs are not worth it in sub 12, just not enough fps, with the occasional one that may work. Also ballistic chronos, apps etc can only give aim points based on the data that is used in the chrono/app when designed. The only way to get a true BC is testing, measuring & calculating it for your specific set-up, as everyone is different 😁
@surreallife7775 күн бұрын
I was wondering if you had a 500 mm FX impact barrel and you wanted to increase it to 600 mm can you just buy the liner and just get a barrel extender to save money?

I love mine, but I do find it doesn't really settle down until about 180bar, above that it can be a little inconsistent. I also found the QYS Domed heavies are the best pellet for mine out to 35m. However once I push past 35m then the JSB Exact heavies are better. I tend to use the JSB's when hunting just because of the consistency across different ranges.
