So I notice they only throw a rooster tail at the end, Can someone explain why that is. I'm not a newbie to drag boats I actually have a 1971 Hondo flatbottom Vdrive. Just wondered is it a certain speed or something going on at that certain time of run.

Good question to ask. That's the water brake. It's dropped down to create resistance thus slowing the boat.

And Ive also been told its a pedal on the left he stomps on and must do it a split second before he lets off the gass or the boat could go over backwards with the instant loss of the engine holding the front down at that speed. The wind at that speed could catch under the front of the boat enough to flip it. I noticed one guy had the front lip cut out to possibly reduce surface for the wind to hit.
