Will we get to see your 351 lectures also? Love the ghost volcano idea. The Goat Rocks area was a favorite spot when I lived there.

This is what great teachers do. They take prior students' knowledge and help them apply it to new understandings. That is a very productive way of approaching learning. I am delighted with your good news.

Can’t wait for this one. Btw, PSA: the Tepper & Clark paper mentioned is not open access, but it looks like Jeff was nice enough to put up a copy on ResearchGate whose full text is publicly available. Edit: BTW, it is incredibly cool (and must be quite gratifying) to see your KZfaq work used as a an argument to get funding for a research grant!

Sorry I joined late, didn’t know abt this. Just want to let you know how much I enjoy your videos. Anytime my dad (a postman) & I traveled he & I speculated about the geology we saw. He inspired such an avid curiosity about the world around us. I now live in the Willamette Valley on a little area with wonderful ice age silt (Canby). A gardeners dream.

Great news! Even if I'm getting to it several hours late. A pleasant surprise to see a "Nick presentation" online. I'm in over the winter, not that it matters from a non-geologist. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this and what comes over the coming winter (and potentially for several additional years). I hope and expect that this will be fun!

Nick, 100s of thousands of views is not an exaggeration. Your channel has a section for "popular videos" which shows your 15 most viewed videos, with the most popular being "How Did the Rocky Mountains Form?" with 642K views.

I'm 100% on board to back-track with you into those two earlier A-Z sessions. They were GREAT at the time and to review all of that material would be awesome before diving into something new now!

That has to be a typo. I'm thinking it's supposed to be 0.1ma and not ka which would be about 100,000 years ago and it's last eruption was 115,000 years ago.

Question: how much of that field research is going to get going this summer? Won't it take a while for them to plot out their research sites and so on?
@Poppageno2 сағат бұрын
Hi Elaine, I would think they would have a good idea of where to start before putting in for a grant. Hope your Summer is going well, Jul 3-5 is supposed to b3 102 here. Whew.....

Close to Smith Rock. I watched your show explaining what happened there Love to you and your wife.❤ Congradulations on all the good news. I can imagine how excited all of you are. You are a treasure.

I liked Gary’s suggestion about calderas…. I also have to admit to being a bit muddy about the path of the Yellowstone plume curving North as we go back in time… ie, The Crooked River Caldera which includes the spectacular Smith Rocks. Does the current clockwise rotation actually fit? I guess I’m simple-minded enough to need animations to grasp the complex interactions of the tectonic movements involved…
